Those are less than 1% of abortions. The other 99% are women who literally just don't want to take responsibility for their actions.
You made up that number, and more importantly, you're missing the
point of my argument: Women are dying from the flawed abortion restrictions/bans and these pro-life politicians don't care.
If they care about lives, they would add more clauses, more exceptions, to clearly allow abortion in those dangerous situations... so doctors can perform a health-motivated abortion without the fear of being punished...
Further regulating abortion with clauses to fully allow it with ectopic pregnancies or cancer would protect patients and doctors in those needed situations, without affecting unneeded abortions...
So... why they don't do it? Why, instead of facing health problems that kills pregnant women, they cover their ears or divert the attention with the non-health abortion like they were on and the same?
There's an explanation: they care about pro-life (full-ban) votes more than women's lives... voters that don't want any kind of exceptions...
Also, politicians they are, republicans can't admit mistakes, even mistakes that are killing people.
I can give you the same hypothetical that I like to give pro-choice people to make them realize that fetuses aren't babies. To this day, I've never gotten anything beyond terrible non-answers or not answering at all:
You're in the middle of a hallway in a fertility clinic which is on fire. On one end of the hallway there is a crying baby. On the other end of the hallway is a briefcase with 1,000 test-tubes with viable fetuses which are scheduled for implantation.
The building is coming down, and there's only time to run to one side of the hallway. Do you save the briefcase with test-tubes, or do you save the baby?
If you're talking of multi-cellular "fetus", the ones they are implanted through IVF, the right term is "blastocyst".
In any case, there's also an interesting fact regarding GOP and blastocysts and fecunded eggs. They used to treated them as babies, persons, and that's why Bush restricted/banned stem cell research... they used similar arguments to oppose the morning-after pill... but recently when that Alabama ruling banned IVF, republicans moved quickly to protect IVF.
Why republicans classified pre-blastocyst balls as humans beings and fought to protect them from being destroyed in experiments, while also protect IVF despite it discards millions of unused blastocysts each year, and the majority of the "used ones" fails to attach to the womb?
