I want to play Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow (rom) on my 3DS, but I remember when I tried to play it on my DS many years ago, the game would always freeze from time to time, making it unplayable. As I recall this was one of those game roms that didn't work very well. Can anyone confirm if it's working any better today and actually is fully playable without any freezes/white screens.

Haven't heard any issues with that game recently, so it's safe to assume it's working fine now.

what are all the different settings for in nds-bootstrap.ini ? Alos, SOUND_FREQ is not in there, but mentioned in the OP.

BOOST_VRAM = 0
CARD_READ_DMA = -1
ASYNC_CARD_READ = -1
DSI_MODE = 1
EXTENDED_MEMORY = 0
DONOR_SDK_VER = 0
PATCH_MPU_REGION = 0
PATCH_MPU_SIZE = 0

all these? lol

EXTENDED_MEMORY is the extended memory duh.

DONOR_SDK_VER No clue about this one.

PATCH_MPU_REGION Should be forcing game to switch to a region?

PATCH_MPU_SIZE I think this one is about pixel scaling?

EXTENDED_MEMORY was meant to expand ROM space limit when pre-loading a ROM into RAM. As it is has been improved and now a default feature, the .ini setting went unused.
DONOR_SDK_VER is meant for ROM hacks which strip out the SDK information. The forwarders and TWiLight Menu++ automatically set that.
MPU stands for Memory Protection Unit.

wont run. I have updated java and winrar multiple times and still doesnt open. Even the run,bat method gives me an error. Anyone know how to fix?

So im on a newer PC (which means I have to reinstall all of the tools I used for Forwarding). Whenever I download the forwarder and extract, the .jar comes up as a rar file; no biggie. I try to run it as .jar as its intended but when I do the command terminal launches for a brief second then disappears. It seems that I can't run the .jar file for whatever reason.

Hi! ive been trying to do the first step of extracting the files into my sd card but when I go to move them it tells me the file name for nds-bootstrap.ini is too long/invalid. it won't let me shorten the name. I also noticed in the _nds folder that is on the sd card from when i homebrewed it it already has another file by the same name but nothing else in the folder is the same as the _nds folder in the for sd card root folder. what can I do to fix this?

You need to use the 7-zip application to extract the files.

I tried to extract the .cia generated by the program to insert an e-manual and rebuild the cia, but all I could extract was a single file that I can't use to rebuild the cia.
Could you help me insert the e-manual?

You cannot insert e-manuals into DSiWare-type titles (of which the forwarders are, if you used Forwarder3-DS).
Also, even if it weren't a DSiWare-type title, I wouldn't know what to do.

Changing the BOOST_CPU value from nds-bootstrap.ini does nothing, it gets reverted to -1. I read that using TWL clock speed improves Pokemon Platinum and I want to try it without using Twilight Menu as I prefer having the icons and my activity log showing these games. AFAIK Platinum isn't included in the blacklist so it seems the bug/issue of nds-bootstrap.ini overwriting this value came back.
