In what could possibly be the worst way to start October for emulation enthusiasts, as of just a few minutes ago the Ryujinx repository appears to be down, with the usual "404" message being given when trying to enter any of their related GitHub pages. Not even the main Ryujinx developer account seems to be active.

Currently there hasn't been any official reports as to why this occurred. None of the official social media accounts for the emulator have given any response, nor has any of the developers talked about why the repository is down, but we'll be sure to keep you updated whenever any new developments towards this situation are known.

UPDATE #1: Given the nature of the page being down with a 404 message, it's possible that this could be related to the removal of the Ryujinx account, and not a DMCA. If the repository suffered from a DMCA claim, then the DMCA notice would appear when entering the repository. However, that is not the case, and the DMCA listings from GitHub doesn't have any recent entries for Ryujinx.

UPDATE #2: The Ryujinx Discord server has paused invites for the moment, and additionally, one of the Discord mods posted the following message:
"To clarify, it's not a DMCA, it's not an issue with GitHub. Please wait for further information and refrain from spreading misinfo thanks."

UPDATE #3: According to an official statement on Ryujinx's Discord server, developer gdkchan was contacted by Nintendo and they were offered an agreement to stop working on the emulator project, and while the agreement wasn't confirmed yet, the organization has been entirely removed.

UPDATE #4: According to other devs, the developer was not only contacted, but actually tracked down by Nintendo to his location, and pressured to developer to cease and abandon development altogether for the emulator.

This marks now the 2nd and only main remaining Switch emulator that Nintendo has taken down as of today, and without any proper and clear protection when it comes to emulation and preservation down the road, it's likely that Nintendo will continue on its efforts to bring down emulation as a whole.

Echoes worked regardless even if it wasn't leaked... They only have one money maker game left which is Mario & Luigi Brothership... They bought out ryujinx well deserved they earned that money in the agreement which is the speculation. Everybody dreams of making it big perhaps they did in this settlement... Now Nintendo has 1 month to figure out how to stop Brothership from working on ryujinx as its the most accurate Switch Emulator. That's gotta be it there's no more 1st party top titles coming out... Everything else is ports and games that are all cross platform non switch exclusives... But unlike yuzu ryujinx does everything the right way when loading and or operating each title including 1st party antipiracy titles.... Source code is available still if you know where to look but a better emulator's source code makes it easier to continue on... I can only imagine it's probaly minor stuff that needs updating when it comes to bugs because their code is clean original and superior to that of yuzu and its forks??? So im my opinion anyone with general c## knowledge could make game fixes improvements easily as most of the sustained code was done so well... But time will tell

I wonder if we'll ever see another Switch emulator in the future, so its games don't end up forgotten and unable to be played.
Maybe years down the line, when the Switch is as old as the DS is now, and there's no profit to be made by Nintendo on Switch game sales?
Then they'd have no reason to take down Switch emulators. Like, they didn't directly kill Citra; that was an unfortunate side-effect of the Yuzu murder. They also haven't taken down DeSmuME or SNES9X or mGBA and so on. Or Dolphin. Because those are for extremely old consoles that Nintendo no longer cares about.

Or maybe I'm just being too hopeful and I should be more pessimistic; who knows.

I think not best idea to stream on YouTube only because Nintendo company can report on your YouTube account and get banned very quickly. They will get copyright warning on their accounts.

Social websites like Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok and others are fine to stream private with family and friends only. Not recommend for pubic. Please keep in private only for safe reasons. If public only, then Nintendo will hunt everyone down. Don't do that. Too dangerous if use public only then Nintendo will throw legal papers on everyone and sue them.





I agree with gisel213. Not much 1st party games left from Nintendo here, 5 more to go then Nintendo Switch will enter in end of support in few years then Nintendo will no longer support anymore and running out of parts like battery, power supply, etc for Nintendo Switch before parts supply shortages after Nintendo Switch 2 hardware come out. Nintendo will kill eshop for all Nintendo Switch means everyone can't get digital games to download again in near future is very awful. Remember Nintendo Wii, Wii U, DSi, 3DS/New 3DS/2DS/XL eshop was shut down by Nintendo company. Everyone are out of luck.

I think there are a couple of reasons

One being that the dev is supposedly from Brazil. A place where ninty's legal team isn't able to have their way easily.

Another being that ryujinx is actually legally above board given that they have never been able to dmca it a single time in its over 6 years long existence, not even in its final moments.

Could also be that the guy got offered a job at Nintendo for development of backward compatibility features. He proved himself in that way, so maybe there's mutual interest and not just threats. But as said, NDA, so we'll likely never know.

Edit: Twitch is own by Amazon. I learned about this where someone try to sell flashcart on Amazon and end up banned their accounts. Nintendo company did it to report to Amazon to take them down without warning! Never trust Twitch (own by Amazon) period! It's dangerous!
