title, basically what would u add to the ps5 to make it a more worthwhile purchase?
personally (i think i got this opinion from a yt video srry but i still rlly agree with it) i think it shouldve been backwards compatible with all ps gens so psx ps2 ps3 and ps4 games wouldve been playable on it instead of just ps4, if a console like that existed it wouldve totally solved the need to buy secondhand consoles bc you could just play all ur physical games on one console and basically u get 5 consoles in one.
also make the disc drive not an addon/second version thats more costly and just part of all the regular consoles bc WTF IS DIGITAL ONLY???

I already have a PS5 but I would never buy a PS5 Pro for $700, I never even bought a PS4 Pro although I'd kinda like one now but taking away the disc drive and charging $700, I wouldn't even buy it if it was the only way to buy the console much less upgrade the one I already have for that. It's the worst pricing model since PS3 launched for $599, or Panasonic for $700 in the 90s. Even if I had full backwards compatibility I wouldn't buy it but I just pirate everything up until PS4 so I don't really care about backwards compatibility anyway.

the pro? I preordered it already. Would be nice if it had badger decals though.

Also better media player support. The PS5 remote has instant access buttons for some services but not all of them (like Disney).

A video editor, web browser, discord, and basically everything else a PC has
discord on consoles would be banger actually, esp for multiplayer
like imagine being able to connect ur discord to ur online acc and quick join the ppl on ur friends list
Exclusives. For me, that's the main selling point of any console.

And besides that, couch multiplayer games. If you wanna give me convenience then you gotta give me something to use that convenience for.
YESSS COUCH MULTIPLAYER its ridiculous how few games now have it (besides nintendo)

I bought a PS5 to get it hacked, but I bought a launch edition with a disc drive so it can load discs when I want.

Of course, newer games will require a backport for early firmwares so there's that.

You know, I used to hate the design of it and thought it was too tall... I was wrong, it's not that bad and it gets better with black plates.

"3 cent stand" 🤣

True, it's just a piece of plastic, yet they charge Apple prices for itm
It legit can't cost them more than a few cents for a plastic stand at cost, seriously. I bet the PS6 will cost $800 and not even come with a controller next.

Two things. More interesting games to get and a more reasonable price.

PS5 games I'm interested in:
Demon's Souls - PS3 version is enough, either on PS3 or emulated. I know Sony, Nintendo etc. like to pretend (to mainstream audiences) that older games somehow aren't available and that you have to buy their new remake, but we all know this isn't really true. If I didn't already have a PS3, I could just buy one now. And the PS3 game version too.

Stellar Blade - will be on PC. The nude mods will be legendary.

FF 7 Rebirth - will be on PC. The nude mods will be legendary.

Rise of the Ronin - unsure if it'll be on PC. But it's one game, not enough.

Astro Bot - unsure if it'll be on PC. Second game, which still isn't enough. And I have way too many older platformers I haven't played yet.

Ghost of Yōtei - I really can't imagine it being truly meaningfully different from Tsushima, similar to how Spiderman 2 apperently wasn't meaningfully different from Spiderman 1 and Miles Morales. So I'm fine with waiting for it on PC. Or maybe even skipping it. Let's be real, I enjoyed Tsushima a lot, but ultimately it was an Ubislop game. The best Ubislop available, but still.

PS5 games I'm not interested in:
So-called "Sony template games". Or "Sonyslop", in less nice terms.
Sony made a big mistake letting go their unique creators, like Team Siren, Team ICO etc.
Now they seem to bank on bizzare strategies like online games noone wants or paid re-releases of PS4 games.
Well, I read some leak about Siren, so we'll see.

Price:
There's this one future game I'm very interested in - Crimson Desert. It's possible my 3060 won't run it well enough and that a PS5 Pro will. But with how expensive PS5 Pro is, I might as well buy a better GPU by then, instead of PS5 Pro.

I admit I have a normal PS5 though. For jailbreaking and Bloodborne at 60 FPS etc.
Later though, right now I got it hidden. No rush.

Thought it would be fun to revisit my post above. Let's see about the games.

Demon's Souls - same thoughts. And I can actually play this on my low FW PS5, if I wanted to.

Stellar Blade - on PC. The nude mods are indeed legendary. Optimization is also legendary, they really cooked with the PC version.

FF 7 Rebirth - on PC. The nude mods are indeed legendary.

Rise of the Ronin - on PC. Pretty bad optimization, but you can brute-force it with a strong PC.

Astro Bot - same thoughts. Certainly a cool game, but ultimately not essential for me.

Ghost of Yōtei - recently had a showcase. Not gonna lie, it mostly looks like a PS4 gen game, especially the lighting. This isn't a bad thing per se, but I'm expecting it's gonna get unfavorably compared to AC Shadows. Even the story setup is pretty similar. AC Shadows is peak Ubislop, being made by Ubisoft itself, but I admit I enjoyed it for 20-30 hours and want to revisit it later. And the ray-traced lighting looks really great it in, Ubisoft cooked good tech-wise -

Bonus - Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet - after replaying TLOU1 and finally playing TLOU2, this is in fact the Sony game I'm looking forward to the most. I admit that the protagonist doesn't have my favorite type of design, but I trust Naughty Dog will deliver with gameplay, world design, production values etc. And with how high they usually aim, I wouldn't be surprised if the base PS5 version was downgraded a lot, so PS5 Pro will be the way to play this. Though maybe by the time it comes out, PS6 will be out too.

Bonus - The Witcher 4 - will be the best on PC.

Final result - in the end I got the better GPU I talked about. Will see how Intergalactic turns out, if they talk about a PC version etc. to see if I get any more PS consoles later.

If it could play all games from previous PlayStations. Which really shouldn't be a big deal. It should already do that.

You forgot about the part where building a PC that can actually significantly beat the base or Pro PS5 cost's a good deal more. A PS5 doesn't just have a GPU. Even building one that is just "on par" with the PS5 is difficult to do for the same price as the PS5. Its just that you mentioned the PS5 Pro as being expensive, when it's not any more than a PC with similar specs. PS5 is also better optimized for gaming than a PC with similar specs.

Oh yeah. Nude mods are incredibly lame. ;)
