Like I said, I'm only going off memory. I could be wrong. That makes it even dumber why ezflash didnt do dsi mode support as a killer feature for the parallel lol

They mentioned Wood, twilight, m3 sakura, and ysmenu on discord. Could've been satire though.Any updates? Cart looks cool. What kernel does it run?
ok, so what is that specific setup, that couldnt be simplified by being able to rsa sign your own custom code? assuming that the signing key were available, which if it isn't actually available then you can just say that lol, you dont need to be crypticIs not that simple, it requires a very specific setup to achieve that.
Yeah the only cart that achieved that was the Cyclo DS iEvolution which used a save game exploit in a cooking game...and I don't recall if Nintendo managed to block that cart's exploit in the final years of the 3DS or not so if it was they'd have to hunt down another DSi game and use a new save game exploit as that's the only practical way to do it for TWL mode flashcarts due to the extra RSA protections TWL enhanced carts have. It would be neat to see another flashcart maker attempt that though. It's a shame the iEvo was the only one that tried.

but imo why bother when it's so easy to mod any dsi and 3ds, you wouldnt need an exploit when you can just make your own rom and the menu accepts it without complaining. I get wanting it to be able to run on unmodded consoles though, because not everyone will want to have to mod their console. unless you already have a working solution for it to run on unmodded console, in which case why not I guess
like I mean yeah there is nds bootstrap, but I dont think it can ever have perfect compatibility in the long run because of hardware limitations (the stuff with needing to slow down card reads when using wireless for example), being able to run a dsi mode flashcart for perfect compatibility with ds games would only be yet another perk of cfw. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with hardware that requires software mods to function anyway. kinda like flashme to run slot 2 cards in ds mode without needing a passme back in the days
did it ever actually properly work, also? I remember it being just problem after problem and nobody being able to actually get games working right in dsi mode. but maybe it got better after I stopped keeping up with it

I figured so, but your use of the trollface had me questioning, and I didn't wanna provide false info. That wasn't satire btw, is real, except that M3 Sakura needs additional patching, and Sakura compatibility is terrible on both retail and homebrew. Both Wood and YSMenu in the other hand work really good tough.
I can't speak for the entire team on this matter.
Fwiw, is already known for many that the DSpico will have full DSi support once it releases, no "retail keys" involved (which would be useless anyway), and pretty simple as "plug and play".
Damn. You have my attention. That's pretty nice. That wasn't satire btw, is real, except that M3 Sakura needs additional patching, and Sakura compatibility is terrible on both retail and homebrew. Both Wood and YSMenu in the other hand work really good tough.

Yeah, it might have been the Wii's key in the gigaleak. You can't sign new RSAs without the private key. We do not have the key for TWL software. As for iEvo it mostly worked but was just picky about DSi roms retaining their encryption. The issue is rom dumpers usually decrypt the ntr and twl secure areas and iEvo didn't like that hence the issues people had with it. I don't recall what it's compatibility was like. I used to have an iEvo but kinda regret getting rid of it now.![]()

There was one key that got leaked. The signing key for ntrboot on DSi so that's why we are able to create payloads for DSi despite there not being a bootrom exploit. Perhaps that was the one you were thinking of?Damn. You have my attention. That's pretty nice.

BTW, which discord is this? They mentioned Wood, twilight, m3 sakura, and ysmenu on discord. Could've been satire though.
ok that makes sense, we can't do it because the signing key wasnt actually leakedYou can't sign new RSAs without the private key. We do not have the key for TWL software. The ds(i) mode hacking discord.BTW, which discord is this?
Here's the link https://discord.gg/yD3spjvGot a link (if it's public)?
About as painful as making our own launcher, if not more painful. last open source version is 1.25, so we'd just be redoing a ton of work for virtually nothing (plus the codebase is ugly).Well... Technically you could use the last open source version of wood, add all the missing AP patches in, and add DSi mode compatibility to it. If you wanted to. I don't know how difficult that is vs making one entirely from scratch.
we do it because as you said, theres people who love using physical media still. Plus, the flashcart scene is just weird, with so many models people still ask which one to use... we want to close that gap. One solution, actually open source for once in almost 20 years.ok, so what is that specific setup, that couldnt be simplified by being able to rsa sign your own custom code? assuming that the signing key were available, which if it isn't actually available then you can just say that lol, you dont need to be cryptic

Well the source code for BL2CK 1.30.4 is also available and that one only really needs a few fixes for perfect compatibility.About as painful as making our own launcher, if not more painful. last open source version is 1.25, so we'd just be redoing a ton of work for virtually nothing (plus the codebase is ugly).

This allows us to add features that current flashcart makers cant, or dont want to add.
I meant that it doesnt need to be functional on unmodded consoles, you can still want to use a flashcart instead of digital and needing to softmod isnt a big hurdle for that tbh. similar to gateway, except gateway had a big hurdle of needing a low fw, meanwhile here we can softmod in 5 minutes with no extra hardware, so it's not a big barrier to entrywe do it because as you said, theres people who love using physical media still. bl2ck is based on wood rpg 1.25, so besides not having to do as much work for game compatibility, it would have the same problems for all the other thingsWell the source code for BL2CK 1.30.4 is also available and that one only really needs a few fixes for perfect compatibility.
