Hey guys,
I'm getting my OLED Mod Chipped next week and I have 2 very important questions that I cant find an answer for anywhere online.

Once the chip is installed by a professional. Should I be concerned about updating the chip firmware later on? And If I do, can it be done through Hekate or should I have to tear open my console and update the chip manually?

Second: I intend to dual boot my console. Having my SYSNAND clean and my emmunand run CFW. Can I update my sysnand normally through Nintendo Update tab ? do I have to worry about it bricking my chip or anything like that ?

You don't need to update the chip firmware if it working fine, update via Nintendo server for Sysnand online play, and daybreak for emunand.

Hypothetically speaking, if I need to, whats the process like, possible through Hekate or I need to hardflash the chip itself ?
Just making sure Im thinking 10 steps ahead and fully understand everything I possibly can before getting mod chipped.

Are you sure updating the sysnand firmware wont messing with the chip's training or anything?

Don't think there is newer firmware than what come with pre flash already. No updating via Nintendo server won't affect chip glitching if you are using sysnand for online play. You should get a V6 black.

I almost bought the white one because everybody bought it but I bought the black because of aesthetics that nobody will ever see.. I'm glad I made that decision.

Im told that version is a newer iteration?

Just that people have problem soldering the ground point on the white one, with some people chip not working. The black is just a revision to fix that problem.
Good to know, should be easier on my soldering dude. Is there any way to find out what NAND is on my switch before it gets opened. I'm just hoping a samsung instead of SK HYNIX

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
