some question I’m trying

- files rdb of Mame doesn’t have “year” “genre” “developer” and it isn’t catalogue in “explore”. All mame roms are in “other”

- keyboard virtual. Is it possible in scummvm core. I can’t enter in monkey 2 because I can’t put a number at the begining

- wiimote as a mouse or a pointer. In scummvm games or in operation wolf rom. Is it possible select wiimote and point at the screen as a mouse or a gun?

I cant help with explore #i dont use it I have my mame set as a playlist and us the mame dat file for the correct rom names,
If you go this route tho you'd have to make the playlist on PC retroarch and then edit the mame playlist.lpl to match the wiiu paths :/ oif you try to use the mam dat on WiiU if will say something like the dat file is too big.

iirc the virtual keyboard is disabled on scummvm not sure why, you should be able to map the needed keyboard keys to buttons tho?

Wiimote as a pointer isnt supported on WiiU Retroarch :/ You can use the gamepad's touchscreen tho :)

what do you guys do to avoid shimmering screen on 4:3?
Shimmering screen? I don't know what that is?

No offense but I don’t think DS support is high priority since injecting DS VC is very easy and compatibility is pretty high, I’d prefer PSP or Saturn tbh.
Unless something happened in the years i haven't been looking, i wouldn't call DS injection's compatibility "high"

Still, i don't think we'll see a DS core any time soon. Look at how much it took to get a working Dynarec on the PSX core!

idk if it's the correct term tbh, but this is what I mean:

he's talking about the nes classic mini but it's the same issue on retroarch.

Heh I've never noticed that before :P looks like a screen sizing issue, try adjusting the screen aspect in the Video settings?

Sorry could you explain it a little bit more

Are you saying to put a “1” en a “A” button? But how I do that?

I will try something with your idea

Sorry I just looked at the Core, it doesnt give you the ability to map keyboard keys to a button, well it does but you cant select numbers only a few keyboard keys.

Go here and explain your issue.

Ok so this had bugged me enough in the past and I thought it would be fixed but it persists giving me problems.

I recently updated to the latest nightly and everything seems to work fine EXCEPT getting my Wii U Pro Controller to work properly across cores. I am not on Tiramisu, I am still on good old CBHC.

How can I set 2 Wii U Pro Controllers as the default controllers for Player 1 and Player 2 across cores? I really despise using the gamepad and do not want to use it. Please help!

Idk about you but I’ve successfully converted 70+ DS games of which I’ve played on Wii U with no issues, almost every game I threw in the converter worked fine on my Wii U with the exception of Super Princess Peach, Konami Arcade Classics, and one or two of the Ouendan games, I even transferred my save data over to the Wii U using DeSmume, maybe you just had a bad luck.

Edit: I just remembered Mario & Sonic don’t seem to support the mic but otherwise fully playable.

At the end I could put a num 5 in a button and pass through the initial screen

Touch the Gamepad works but not as I expect, you can’t launch the action just point at the screen and then you need to push A button. Would be great make a two point action or something like that, if you are right hand need change the pointer and push button every time 😇😅

in build from 12 august retroarch crashes everytime I try to assign the gamepad to player like 5-8. What I'm trying to do is assign any other controller as player 1 but it wont work in game, I thought maybe assign gamepad to some other number will do the trick and that's when it crashes.

How can I set 2 Wii U Pro Controllers assigned to P1 and P2 without need of the Wii U Gamepad?

As default for all cores.
I am on build 8-12 and Firmware HBC.
Please and thank you in advance.

Once in game you can assign the WiiU Pro Controller to player 1, its become second nature to do this now everytime I load a game :P

First make sure your Pro Controller is on
When in game open the Quick Menu
Goto Controls
Goto Port 2 Controls
Goto Mapped Port and set it to 1
Now your Pro Controller will be seen as Player 1

You may even be able to save this remap config aswell, while still in Controls menu, Manage Remap Files, then save Game/Core Remap file. (not sure if it will actually work tho)

Glad you got past the number issue :) With the Touchscreen you have to hold the Stylus press for a sec for it to register ;)

So I tried the pcsx_rearmed (PS1 core) and it works fine. It also supports CHD format.

-Speed doesn't reach 100%. There are some frequent stuttering
-With some optimizations (frameskip ON, VSync OFF, dithering OFF) you can reach 100% but only playing 2D games (Rayman, King of Fighters...)
-On 3D games: speed is maybe 70-80%.
-I couldn't figure out how to enable rumble ?
-Also I've read here loading time is shorter but how? I get same loading speed as the good old PS1.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this project.

I think in comparison to other retroarch core load times then this core is fast at at least getting to that first load/splash screen. Some mame roms take an eternity but in relation to actual ps1 load times... Can't remember that far back lol but since their obviously not disc read there will be a slight speed up however i also noticed Rayman laods quicker and smoother without any optimisation on this core than the wii versions i have.

Found the same method on a reddit post. Thanks Ploggy, although how can I set players 2 and forth to use another Wii U Pro controller?

Not sure what you mean?
You mean have player 2 (WiiU Pro Controller) set as player 1 and Player 4 set to another WiiU Pro Controller?
That can be done though the same method.

That crash goes back alot further than 12th August, looks like that bug crept in sometime between 24th Oct - 13th Dec 2021!
That's around the same time All Users Control Menu was re-added to Retroarch, so it could be related to than change?

I've added an issue to Retroarch git, hopefully it gets looked at :)

I’m trying to set up 4 Wii U Pro Controllers as the default methods of play and get the Gamepad out of the picture. Can it be done?
Oh, I'm sure its possible but I only have the one (Fake ) WiiU Pro Controller so never had the need to try.
I assume if the gamepad is out of the way (off) then the WiiU Pro Controller will become first player anyway, then the other controllers should auto map to player 2/3/4 as you connect them?

Another new Core time!
This time we have an Atari 5200 Core.

Hopefully I can get this and the Potator Core added to the Buildbot :)
