Hacking Doubt regarding updating switch firmware

I want to update my emummc to the latest version 16.0.3 but keep my sysmmc at 10.2.0 which i am on now. Is that fine to do? or do i need to keep both updated?

Also is there any difference between Stock and sysmmc? sysmmc is just stock running with cfw right?

I have an unpatched switch running latest atmosphere and hekate. Its been factory reset so there are no apps, saves or anything on the console as of now.

tbh idk. Safety i guess? so i can downgrade later if i need to? I dont really know, if its not needed ill keep both updated then.
