Error 2124-4508

My sons Switch started getting this error message today. A quick google tells me it's a perm ban. We bought it second hand but 'new' about 1.5 years ago. I think it's highly unlikely my son has done anything to trigger the ban so my worry is that perhaps this is a stolen console (the Facebook MP pickup ended up being a bit strange!). Is there a process for contacting Nintendo to get to the bottom of this?

You can contact their normal support channels, but don’t expect any sympathy. They are slow to anger, but once they have solid proof they are very much final with their decision to ban. Somebody along the way violated the terms of service with this Switch. Whether or not it was stolen has little bearing on anything. That would be a police matter. Ninty doesn’t get into enforcement of those types of things. Bans are strictly about violating their terms of service.
