How can I check if the sd card is real or fake without a windows computer? The cardboard looks high quality and it honestly looks fine, but I wanted to get some help from the GBAtemp gurus.

Format it as FAT32 32kb clusters with Guiformat, and run h2testw with the "read & verify" option. It will fail the test if it's fake.
Also, make sure the lock slider on the adapter is set to "unlocked".

If you bought "sold and shipped by Amazon" it's most likely genuine.
On Mac, f3x can be used as an alternative to h2testw.

I never got a fake from them when it's sold and shipped by Amazon. As always, when the price seems too good to be real, it probably isn't.

It IS a fake lol just realized how bad it could be for the 3DS when i finished the purchase... Guess i'll use it for my phone.
BUT i used to have a fake one on my modded Wii, never had any problem with it. This one i bought is a 32gb, the recommended by Nintendo (it seems). I'll make a backup before trying it out, and i'll test it anyway.

If it's advertised as having 32gb that means it has only 8gb or 16gb at most. The software will tell you for sure.
Also if you intend on using it, there's maybe a software that helps switching it to its real storage capacity, just search online im sure you'd find something..
Don't go over its true max capacity, or everything will start going corrupt..

There used to be an Android app that can do the validity check back in the day. Particularly, by revealing all the metadata about the micro-SD card, like its capacity and manufacturer. But for one reason or another, it was removed from the Google Play Store, at least in our region. The only caveat it has at the time is that it can only do its job for up to 128Gb micro-SD card. Anything bigger is rendered "unreadable".

I already have 600gb of games on the card. Why would I format it if it more than likely isn't fake and I already have it loaded with games? Not sure why the snarky comment. Completely unwarranted.

I always buy my cards on Amazon from SanDisk directly, or in-person at a store. Guaranteed not to be fakes, and they're always on sale.

As long as you order them from an official retailer on Amazon, then you are free of fakes.
