Hacking Open boot.dol files

How do I open boot.dol files? I do not mean to run them, I want to open them and, for example modify the code or textures. I tried looking for the source code with no luck.

use a hex editor, if you're lucky you can make minor edits this way, to paths or URLs, but not always. And for the type of texture edits you have in mind it's unlikely to work using this method, you need the source

Such a shame we can't decompile a boot dol. There's one in particular I'd love to get my hands groping around inside
