Yoshi Music Sucks

I get excited for every yoshi game. The upcoming Yoshi for switch has Goren me excited but Of course I still run on 1998 hardware and the processing power is very limited. Here are the games that I've bought(not pirated) or owned: Yoshis Island, cookie, Story, DS, 3ds, Wool wiiu. Yea that's all but the GBA one. The only one i didnt buy was Island, which was a gift, but i knew where i bought all the other ones. I've noticed that the only one I've finished was the first one for SNES.

Its because of the music, there has been a change to the theme of Yoshi that has made it VERY BORING. I decided to research it and a name comes up, Koji Kondo. Koji kondo has only composed music for one of them, the very first one. Its the only one with heart and pizaz. Take a listen to the opening stage to Yoshis Island

Its upstart, fun, and it sounds like the beginning of a great adventure. The yoshi games games made following it have had a very different change in tone, more a walk in the park, relaxed, easy breezy take a nap in the afternoon kind of tone

As stated before the tone of it makes it sound like a boring walk in the park. These songs are well composer's but It makes the game less enjoyable. I've only shared one example from the last one, Wooley World, but each one has had the same tone starting with Yoshis Story which came out in 1998. Yup 1998, twenty years of boring music.

I was hyped for the switch yoshi but I looked at the demo and... You listen to it

Same ole walk in the park boring music. This disappoints me. When it comes to yoshi, the nastalgia from Yoshis Islands music is so grand and wonderful that I expect the same level of excitement, adventure, rhythm etc.. Not this walk in the park kinda weak music. Even in the first game yoshi could turn into a helicopter, train, mole, submarine. The gameplay is still enjoyable but I don't see any appeal to the music for anyone younger than 40yr.

Nintendo needs to do something about Yoshis soundtrack and direction, at this point I'm just bored from all the old man stroll in the park music. Maybe one day I might enjoy the old man music but for the foreseeable future that won't be the case.

I forgot how the music is more dynamic with the inclusion of baby Mario riding Yoshis back which also raises the stakes. Yoshis adventure without a baby just isn't as intriguing or as inspiring

I've noticed this as well! I swear, the music does make the game feel that much more slow paced and boring. (not to say the music itself is bad) Now I question Yoshi Switch, Yoshi's Wooly World was pretty boring.

Not all the music is trash but most of them are. Generally the music played in yoshi stage 1-1 is the one most frequently used which sets the overall tone of the games to be a boring cakewalk

The yoshi's island music rules and so does the game. That's the only "Yoshi" game you need.

I forgot to add Tetris attack for SNES and gameboy. That game is an awesome puzzle game

I'm not really into Yoshi games but I see what you mean. The recent game music seems like something I'd expect in Animal Crossing. Still good music, but much more laid back. It's a cryin shame I tell you.

I remember playing Yoshi Story, most of the music is the same with various arrangements, as bad as that is, I find those amusing, the one when you go underground into the sewer slime area and it sounds like is trying to be hip hop. :P

Honestly there is plenty of games that do this kinda remixing like Monster World 4, Super smash bros, super mario world, Breath of fire 4, and sonic 3 or sonic CD or sonic mania where each second act is a remix to the first one. I just find it a interesting idea for soundtracks to contain mixing songs, almost as fun to hear the ending game medley in sonic games where it plays clips from each song in one long extended track.

Yoshi music has taken a turn for the worst, that is for sure. I really missed the feeling of the original Yoshi's Island music when I tried the newer Yoshi games. Combined with the slow and clunky feel of the newer Yoshi games, the music is a serious buzzkill.

Some of the songs in Yoshi's New Island are AWFUL

The music in Yoshi's island DS is bad (in general) but not as bad as some of the songs in Yoshi's New Island

IIRC there's a romhack which brings back the melodies from Yoshi's Island to Yoshi's Island DS

Edit: Yup, here it is

I enjoy the music personally, I like the vibe I get (Yoshi is being his normal smiley self having some fun while working towards a goal)

why fuk is saying yoshi music is suck??
the "park walkenage" themes is very the fite in my opinions because said games is like knits of the grendmas which very relax and slow.... :teach:

Yoshi Story had a nice soundtrack imo, it's a short game but I adore it's artstyle.

I feel with recent games they're going for fluffy, cutesy and safe in the music department and it's not working for me. I miss the overall quality of Yoshi Island's soundtrack, love that cave theme.
Kinda wish they'd just hire Koji Kondo for this new game.
