I remember when i was playing Devil Survivor on DS. At first glance it was good, even the isometric battle view was good. But then when the battle suddently jumped into a RPG a'la Final Fantasy i just say: damn, i got tricked again.
From my beginnings on videogames, i always disliked RPGs. Of course there's some RPGs that i like (Disgaea; Rune Factory; Or some RPGs with real-time battle), but the genre as a whole is just not for me. Then i think what exactly i don't like about RPGs and then i come with various reasons, but after some reasoning i found out that it was one thing that i didn't like, and it is: Repetitive Mechanics.
Seriously, every RPG out there has an over-reliance on dated-repetitive mechanics that we already see over and over and over and over. Every new dungeon crawler knows what i'm talking about. And the worst part is that is not only the gameplay, is also the the typical plot/lore, unbalanced progress and over-extended grind that doesn't have any reason to be like that.
