3DS battery is halfway dead. Suggestions?

I made a battery benchmark on my 3DS today to see if i need to buy a newer one or just a Nyko pak. I fully charged it and i follow these settings:

-3D: Off
-Wireless: Off
-Screen brightness: 1
-Sleep Mode: No (always open)

I leave it with those setting exactly at 13:00 PM and lasted until 17:15 PM when i got the red blinking (had to manual shutdown to avoid total discharge). Yes, i need a new battery, or i will need it in the future. Had a good long run since i buyed the console on 2012 and the battery is still the same.

But i should buy the Official battery or buy an extender like the Niko Pak?

5 hours seems normal. I have a N3DS, and it lasts a similar length. I don't think your battery is at fault here. The 3DS has a much quicker battery drain than the DS. I recommend you get that extender instead.

5 hours seems about right to me also. If you don't think it is you can get an official one off amazon. As for the powerpak I really can't help you there since I've never used one.

Seems right to me too. I remember when my battery was nearly dead: not even 15 mins alive lol
It was kind of exploding I think...
