What are your dreams and goals for 2021?

While I'm sure we all have plans, goals, and dreams that can still be accomplished this year, I want to try and spray a scent of positivity in the air for once and ask everyone in the community what your dreams and goals for the next year are? After all, like Maya Amano says: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EMekX3XWwAA81UT?format=png&name=small

For me, its going to be surviving the next winter, saving up money since it's my hope that my bills will be taken care of by the end of this year, and that I will have a job that will allow me to save up enough money to finally move out of Illinois and just my parents' house in general to where, when everything is finally opened up again if it hasn't opened up by the end of the year, maybe I can finally go out and try to develop myself socially so I can have actual friends where I can just be my usual self with no filters like I've had to act around my immediate family my entire life and maybe, just maybe, find the princess at the end of World 8-4.

I also hope to be able to play this synthesizer piano here in my room a whole lot better than I can right now in a year's time. Maybe even get a better job than what I have right now!?

But that's enough about me. What about all of you!?

2021 ?
Only one Thing - Health.:)

Please not the same like in 2020.
A "normal" Life without the constant "Fear" of this Years "Things"

A "unrealistic" Dream: That Humanity is a bit more reasonable and learns from the past..
(very,very unrealistic.....)

Some "other" Things:
A nice GBAtemp Year again.
Peace and Calm

Goals ? Lets see what 2021 brings...I am very curious.
Thank you.:)

We will be completing the final application for my wife's permanent residence, and beginning the application for full citizenship, after seven years of waiting and a small fortune spent.

@TomRannd Dude, I've also thought about trying to learn a thing or two about electrical...mostly to mod game systems or to possibly fix the things that don't work on said systems (Dreamcast with damaged controller port switch, I'm looking at you.) or something along those lines!

Good luck! :)

@SIlent_Gunner hah yeah, man i already know a ton about systems. i think i more or less want to be a residential electrician. like, the dudes that pull wires through your home and shit. i'm good at it, and i enjoy it.

i really started to do my device repairs on cartridges. learned a lot from my buddy retro_repairs on youtube(no i don't know him irl lol)

@TomRannd I have an older brother who restored two arcade boards for the Neo-Geo arcade system by de-soldering and then re-soldering a lot of parts on the board (mostly the sound chips and I think the Universe BIOS on one of them). Makes you wish these companies would have thought ahead and put sockets on all of these old circuit boards!

@Silent_Gunner haha yeah, back then i don't even think they had sockets available for heavy usage(i could be very wrong). recently, i tried to do a prototype board for an led matrix but i fucked it all up cause i was impatient and didn't use sockets. a lot of the problems on old mobos in devices are the ic's and capacitators. capacies make sense, the ic's? well, not so much. but hell, what'r you gonna do lol.

Is that really the sort of thing they require you to go to university for?

It is certainly a skilled trade but if someone tells me that they are going to university for electrical stuff I am assuming either crazy high voltage/motor/transformer design, analogue electrics, electrical engineering or seriously speciality electrical repair and usage (a lot of medical techs for the fancy imaging equipment will have some considerable electrical repair and diagnostics skills).

Household and industrial stuff then being a trade with standard trades in (maybe short course at more of a college, few days in college the rest in the field under someone, or even straight learn under someone type deal and ultimately get whatever tickets* you need if that is a thing around you).

*I will spare a scathing rant about things in the UK for that one.

That said increasing numbers of people get stuffed through university on such things in other areas that were more traditionally field taught, day release or other on the job.

@FAST6191

Well, yes and no. I actually go under as an apprentice. So some electrician, hires me and gives me a certain amount of his wage. I do that for about 4 months, then I go to school for 2 weeks. I have no actual idea WHY I need to go to school, most likely just doing paperwork regarding code and shit. After than, I go back to being an apprentice and do coffee runs... And I repeat the whole cycle about 4 times or something along those lines. Then, I can become a journeymen electrician. Once i get that title, I can even end up making my own business and shit. EDIT: I guess it is college I was talking about. *facepalm* My, I get the two mixed up I guess. Rookie, mistake indeed. But yeah, learning under someone is a thing here.
