I have run into some minor technical difficulties in the programming of Dragon Cliff, as well as some new homework which will require some more time. I expect to be finished by the 18th of December.
Oh, and I also saw that some people were unaware of what Dragon Cliff is. As stated, it's in my introduction thread, but I can give you a slightly more detailed explanation here.
Dragon Cliff is a fantasy themed visual novel-style game I'm currently developing. I'm not using any Java or Flash [censored]ry, no, the entire game is programmed in c++. It's the first part of planned trilogy. I refer to the first game as just "Dragon Cliff", but the real title is "Dragon Cliff episode one: Descendant of the Draco'nar".
Story:
Dragon Cliff is set in a world populated entirely by dragons. These dragons are separated into six major bloodlines, green, blue, red, black, light and ice. Yes, there is a reason why the last two aren't named after colours, but I won't talk about that here, since it requires starting from the very beginning of the story. There are also other smaller bloodlines, like the earth and gray, but they are very rare.
Aside from the dragons, there are magical forces in the world called "nethers". These flow everywhere and through everything, and can be absorbed by the dragons who use them to perform spells. There are hundreds of different types of nethers, but each major bloodline have their own special nether which they can use very extensively.
You play as Keraz, a young green dragon who is ordered to investigate a strange storm by the peak of the mountain where he lives. I won't tell you more about the plot than that, since it would ruin the game.
Gameplay:
Dragon Cliff is an extremely humble game. It's quite short, only about 40 minutes of playtime if you're slow, and it's very linear. You have a total of three commands, F (forward), B (back) and D (do). F and B are quite self-explanatory, you use them to move forward and and back between screens. D is used to do something on the screen you're currently on, but you don't tell the game WHAT it is you want to do. This makes it sound like all you have to do is use D on every screen and you're done, but that isn't entirely true. Throughout the game, you will encounter crossroads and riddles where you have to think a bit deeper.
The game will have a total of five endings, four good and one bad, based on how you play through the game.
Other stuff:
All, or almost all music will be classic pieces from Nintendo games, and the graphics will be enhanced photos.
So, I'm truly looking forward to hearing people's opinions when it's out, and I hope you've found this explanation satisfactory. Arfiol out.
