So many games to play, so little time

There are a few games I've already preordered because I can't wait to play them, while I have a lot more that I haven't played yet. 1-2 of them I have preordered ages ago and are collecting dust.

Due to my schedule, I tend to play at least 1-2 hours in total everyday. Precious minutes crammed in between subway rides and the most tedious parts of a game to be spent grinding for levels or items while watching something on Netflix. It sucks that I'm a completionist too and have to 100% everything.
I haven't been slacking off with gaming and I think I have only skipped a handful of days. I started the year with 36 games to finish and I'm ending the year with... 68. WHAAAAAT? All those special offers, Steam sales, PSN Plus... I'm biting more than I can chew! And that's without considering all the stuff I've preordered as well.

I'm thinking about increasing the time I dedicate into gaming everyday by sleeping less (currently snoring for 8 hours straight every night. I heard you can go as low as 6 without consequences). I'm also thinking about playing less time-consuming games and find better quality over quantity time-wise. I could also buy less games that I don't need to play immediately, but they're either free or the discount is huge and I can't help but grab it before the price goes up again.

What are your thoughts? Do you have the same issues? How have you solved them?

Well when it comes to RPGs I see if I can run exp cheat codes. I also don't do 100% anymore as that can double a playtime. Beyond RPGs I can't think of any other type of games that take a long time; maybe play on easy?

I just play the story of a game completely like the Mario&Luigi series
Then i do the other story(if one exists)
I personally sleep 8 hours in the week and on weekend 10 hours
And i still have so much time

I can get by on 6 hours of sleep, but that doesn't mean everyone can. If i attempted to cram more gaming into those, i would feel more tired or even start needing more sleep again. That most likely goes for everyone (besides: is not healthy suppressing sleep).

The completionist thing is something i would suggest you attempt to trim down. Quite some games add in a bunch of busywork in order to get you to spend you more time (sure to stockholm syndrome, you'll think you'll love it, while the game in fact holds you hostage).

Finally: it's okay to have a gaming backlog.

I have so much backlog too, and sometime felt I'll never play old games as they always pill up. games being release too quickly tended to let me start new one before ending the previous, and never returning to the old unfinished ones because another one got released again, etc.

For the past 5 years, I decided to play only one game at a time and don't start another one until it's completed.
Doing that forced me to play and complete games (while before that I played many and completed none).
As a result, I found myself being more precautious to choose which game I'll play next, based on difficulty/length/interest.

I completed around 15-20 games a year doing that, from which I played very old games I had in my backlog (PS1/20 years old games) for the first time.
This year changed everything. I played Zelda breath of the wild since March.... and that's all, I still haven't completed it in December! making this year 2 completed game :/ (played in jan-mar)
So, I decided to stop doing this "one at a time", at least for very long game, as it prevented me from playing a lot of small ones I could have finished while still playing zelda. I'm also a completionist for quests, and items to find, I don't want to complete the game until I did everything else. I know that if I complete the game I will probably never go back to it to do the missing parts.

It was a good way to play those past 5 years, forcing me to complete games instead of starting new ones and never going back to complete them.
I think I just need to change my way of playing again : play more games, but not too much to still complete them.

I don't play every days, time is an issue when living alone (work, house duty, shopping, etc.)
I just try to prioritize what I want more (which is often GBATemps first, then TV series, then gaming)
I think I can play 15H per week if I really dedicate my time to it. (I'm 30H in xenoblade 2, Started 2 weeks ago)

It's a miracle that I find almost 2 hours to dedicate to gaming everyday while working, having other hobbies and being social.

CallmeBerto,

Then you are not a fan gamer. I use the cheat sometimes if I beat it already and want to write the script like Rockman & Forte. I beat Rockman & Forte a long time ago with 100% CD collections. Now, I dont wnat to replay it because I want to write the script from Rockman & Forte story then I do the cheat to caught up with. :)

I play the game for the first time without a cheat. A cheat is not fun if you are playing it for the first time like RPGs.. Replay is okay for cheat. :) Just saying.
