I was dreaming about playing an open-world Mario game. It was great! The world design looked kinda similar to Breath of the Wild, only a bit more creative and filled. There were pits (not the bottomless kind, you could explore it), caves, mountains, chests filled with power-ups (not replacing the ? Blocks)... It looked so colourful and fun! There were also tons of minigames scattered around the world, events based on the weather (like a whirlpool leading to somewhere that only appeared in a thunderstorm), secret places, and a really cool map view: basically, it looks simplified but detailed (similar to the one in Mario World), you could zoom in all the way to ground level, similar to Street View, and look around and control the camera freely. When you did that, the map was still using the simplified graphics, and you could spot little notes and hints written on the walls and floor, and stuff like that. The full map view also had a representation of the current weather. For example, when it was raining, everything became darker and bluer, and you could see the rain falling.
Bowser's Castle had a similar placement to Zelda's in BotW. It also had the Bullet Bill searchlights from 3D World (only they were a bit more threatening this time around, they shot two Bull's-Eye Bills at a time, towards the sky, and they could move in full 3D space, unlike in 3D World, where they couldn't steer up and down). The actual platforming sections were a bit blocky, like in 3D Land and 3D World. I also remember an Easter egg. Behind Bowser's Castle, there was a hidden 3D castle with 16-bit graphics, and a fiery and giant Thwomp King as the boss.
I would love to play this game. Hey, Nintendo. *wink-wink* Hire me.
