Today, near the end of class (transportation tech), 3 people called me over. They had a problem. For 5 whole days, they had been trying to get a piston in an engine. They had a few problems, mainly being the bearings slipping out, and the piston rings not collapsing. We looked over it, and I managed to get it in the engine. They were thankful, but they still had 5 more to do and were somewhat unhappy. After class ended, I stayed behind. I didn't have anything better to do, so I tried the next piston. I got it in in a few minutes. Then the next one. And the next one. And the one after that. And then the final one. In about 1 hour, by myself, I completed 5 times what a group of 3 had completed in 5 days. It's really not that hard. You just attach the bearing, stick the right numbered piston in, make sure it's pointing in the right direction, collapse the rings, gently hammer it in, screw on the bearing cap, and you're done.
I can't wait till they see my work. They really weren't into putting everything back together, so it'll be a nice thing for them.
