Guild Plays: MUSTARD RACE EDITION

So yeah I've been on quite the PC gaming binge since I got my new laptop. Surprisingly it runs most things pretty damn good. So yeah, here's some stuff.

I played most of Fallout: New Vegas already but this time I decided to go pretty extensively with the mods. And damn is this great. From gameplay tweaks to graphics, it's twice as good as when I played it on the Xbox a couple years ago.

I also modded the shit out of Skyrim but it's not nearly as good as modded New Vegas. The core game is still there and the core game is shit. Monster mods don't work so you still are fighting the same bandits and draugr. I mean combat is challenging with mods, graphics look better, magic is better, perks are better, but it's still a rotten core. Its like hiding a turd in a birthday cake, there's still shit in the middle.

Shadow Warrior is probably some of the most fun I've had in a while. It's crazy, splattery, goofy fun and it fits the FPS bill perfectly. Just being able to slice and dice with the katana or riddle baddies with your guns is some of the most fun I've had. It was $8 on a flash sale and I don't regret it. Play it.

Darksiders II is pretty fun too. Darksiders felt overall average, it was a Zelda structure that ripped little bits of other games like God of War combat and even a Portal sequence. This strays away from that and makes it more of a slightly open world dungeon crawler while still keeping the combat there, although admittedly it's not as stupidly easy as the first game. It's fun and worth the $5 I paid for it at least.

State of Decay... wow was this miserable. People were calling it anything from "GTA with zombies" to "hardcore team survival management" and mashed together it sounded fun. A realistic zombie survival game in an open world focused on resource management. I can dig it. But wow, it's just shit. The game still feels like Early Access but it's been a full fledged release with DLC even. zombies will clip through walls, your movement feels so slippery too. Like this looks and feels like a beta. The combat is boring as shit, the AI is terrible, the physics are terrible, and it's boring. You see an area on a map, go to it, find it's a small tent, kill reskins of the same zombies, possibly loot some supplies, and move on. Occasionally the game tries to be difficult by just sending a ton of random waves at you but even then it feels like a joke. It's terrible. I got it for $5 + one of the DLCs so around $6 and I totally regret it. Don't buy this game. At all.
