Me and my dad don't have a very good relationship, I'm not saying it's bad as in we're constantly fighting, but we just have never been that close. So the other day when I got a call from him asking me to come see him at his home was really strange. Normally the only times we talk to each other are times when we require something from each other, so I was pretty suspicious about going to meet him, thinking he'd just ask me for money or sell me to some slaver traders. Anyway, I arrived at the city train station where he lives and I walked out. He said he would meet me outside. It'd been at least a year since we last met face to face so I didn't really know what to expect and to be honest, I didn't really know what kind of job he had, or what he was even doing with his life.
Then after about 10 to 20 minutes waiting for my dad, a young woman walks up to me holding a photo and asks if I'm Yohan (that's my name). I answer yes and she explains how she works for my dad, and he's extremely busy and how he's very sorry that he couldn't come out to meet me in person.. blah blah blah. We walk to her car she starts driving us to, where I assume, he lives.
The car journey was pretty awkward, I'm not the most talkative of people and neither was she by the looks of it. About 15 minutes of silence later, she said 'So do you know what your father does?'. I answer truthfully saying I don't really have a clue and she just nods, her eyes did not once flicker from the road. I waited for her to actually tell me what he does or at least say something else but it seemed that the conversation was over and she had gotten the information that she wanted.
Within another 15 minutes we pull up outside a huge military looking building, with armed guards posted at the door, and many patrolling the premises. So this is where my dad works?! It looks like some CIA or FBI building.. And to be honest I was getting a little nervous by then. The woman parked the car and left, I assumed she expected me to follow and I did. We entered through the front door and walked through a reception area. It had the words NERV emblazoned above the receptionists desk.
The woman pulls out an ID card and swipes it in the panel in from of us, the door opens up into an elevator and we go down. We exit into a bleach white corridor and she leads me down until we reach a certain door. It had more armed guards in front of it and it looked like the security was very tight in here. She pulled out her ID card once and again and swiped the panel in front of her. She then entered a series of numbers of the panel. The large double doors slid open. We walked inside and they slowly close behind us.
Inside it was pitch black and I was getting seriously worried now, loads of strange scenarios went through my head, was I being kidnapped? Am I going to become some human guinea pig? How am I goi- Then suddenly the lights come on and infront of me is was the craziest thing I have ever seen in my life. It was a giant face! It was looking straight at me, without blinking. Then I realise it's not really human, I take a step back and look at it once again. It was a large humanoid robot mecha thing! It was purple with parts that were green and had a huge horn on it's head. What the hell...
I gasped, 'Did... my father build this?' 'That's right!' I look at to where the new voice was coming from and it was none other than my dad. 'What's going on?!' to which he replies 'Move out!'. The woman who was still standing next to me, suddenly became alert and said 'Move out?! But Unit 00 is still frozen.. Don't tell me.. you're activating Unit 01?! But Rei is still injured, we have no pilots!' 'One has just arrived' 'You cannot be serious!' 'Yohan! You shall pilot Unit 01!' 'But it took Rei 7 months to sync with it, there's no way.. It's impossible'
By this point I was actually literally speechless. Me?! Pilot this... Thing?!
Suddenly there was a huge explosion outside, 'Dammit.. The bastard has found us.. Yohan! Get in now!' 'What why? You haven't called me in over a year and when you do it's to ask something ridiculous as this?!'
What should I do?!
