Decapping fundraiser fraudulent? Maybe that's ok?

I put money on this fundraiser, only to be answered with silence and then a demand for more money. The way this fundraiser is run is unprofessional at best. If Yellows8 is going to basically reconfirm the legitimacy of this fundraiser by asking for MORE money, he could AT LEAST offer words of encouragement (for instance, that this confirms the final decapping price and it will be done soon.)

I'll still give them some more money. Yeah, the decapping promise is dubious. But Yellows8 has been consistently posting updates about what he learns about the 3DS and is giving this information freely (well obviously not the exploits yet.) If anyone is making progress, it's Yellows8. I wouldn't mind if this fundraiser was 100% bullshit if the ends justifies the means.

The idea of giving donations for first world boys is extremely ridiculous in every single situation. But you cant call it "fraudulent". There was no promisse of sucess at all.

Fraudulent, scam, what ever word you pick, it all means the same thing here. The idea is that people fear they were scammed out of their money. The donation process has been handled very unprofessionally, and weeks of silence after reaching the $2k goal with them suddenly saying "oh yeah, taxes, $300 more needed, kthnxbye" has left donators on edge. There has been no words of encouragement from the team asking for this money. Nobody has bothered to be consistently communicating on behalf of the team. Not one person has been thanked for handing them money that nobody had to give them. We essentially have gotten silence, and at this point, suspicious actions that may lead to promises ending up unfulfilled.

It was already a very long road to the $2k. The fact that nobody, in all that time, was capable of calculating the exact amount needed is ridiculous at best, and suspicious to the point of not deserving any more donations at the worst. They will be hard pressed to get that last $300 after how they handled this, and will be lucky to not receive requests for people to get their money back.

That is terribly run. I know it's difficult to raise money (especially fundraisers), and it's difficult to be professional about it. (Tell me about it, I ended up helping an organization apply for a bloody grant...)

If you have a Chinese slimline DVD drive, the usual black rectangular shell, you can swap that out for another drive if it used the same small SATA connector.
