[Rumor] I might be getting a Kindle touch for Xmas

So i was at my cousin's house and we were looking though the black Friday papers and i saw a special on the Kindle line. Apparently the Kindle is going for $79, but i wanted wifi and touch with no buttons which is only $20 bucks more. I dont want color because then i can't take outside and have no use for a tablet cuz i have an iphone...

So anyways i was looking and i saw the Kindle Touch an said something and i think my grandma started whispering to my mom. Clearly shes no where near as quiet as she thinks she is.

Anyways Im going already have a few books i want to put on it, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter (i never read them) and some Ted DeKker.

Also has anyone used Mangle lately? Its a manga converter for your kindle. Apparently it smooths out the colors and formats it for your reading ease on your kindle as a PNG sequence.

What is books?

But seriously, if you like LotR you should read Tolkien's other books, IMO most of them better that LotR but it just gets the most attention.

Edit: some examples of my favorites are: The Hobbit, Farmer Giles of Ham, The Silmarillion, The Children of Húrin, Smith of Wootton Major, etc. etc. the list goes on.

My favorite collection is The Wheel of Time, if you like lotr you'll prolly like that kind of book, it's a big collection where each book is really big (around 600/800 pages average) and there's 12 or 13 books total. Personally, I consider the writter the best fantasy writter, Robert Jordan (his pen name). <3

Good luck on the Kindle.

As for books, have you read any by Arthur C. Clarke? If not, you should definitely give him a try; I recently enjoyed 2001: A Space Odyssey and Childhood's End.

Oh yeah i definitely want to read uh the Silmarillion or whatever. Those sound sweet. Ill give them a look.

Yeah ive actually heard of the Wheel of Time. Its bad ass. Good suggestion. Its one of those suggestions that ive been told about, put it on a back burner and completely forgot about.

Space Oddyssey sounds awesome. Ive heard lots of good things about it.

Manga suggestions are also welcome.
Ive read Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, Dogs: Bullets and Carnage, and Biomega.

20th Century Boys and Monster for manga, they are bloody brilliant.

If you don't mind ecchi, Mahou Sensei Negima. It starts getting a LOT better around, uh, chapter 50 IIRC. The action from that point on is just kickass, it completely utterly blows out stuff like Naruto and Bleach. Again, it does have ecchi, so yeah, though IMO the plot and action make up for it. Its still ongoing.

If you like the first two suggestions, try Billy Bat as well. Same author, though i can't say much for the plot since i haven't read much yet. Still ongoing. There's also Pluto, same author, its finished, and based of one of the arcs in Astro Boy, its pretty awesome, though IMHO it isn't as good as the rest of his works.

For romance manga, read Good Ending(ongoing), Suzuka(finished) and Kimi no Iru Machi(Same author as Suzuka, ongoing), all three are great.

There's also Akira, while the movie is great and a classic, the manga is a lot better. Try getting both if possible, watch the movie, then read the manga.

If you like Pokemon, there's Pokemon Special, its completely different from the anime, and is actually great.

All i can think of ATM, have fun!
