Why are people against the 3DS getting remakes?

They're making it sound like Nintendo isn't creating any new games and are only focusing on developing ports/remakes. In fact, Nintendo isn't even heading the remakes but they rather send it off to another team not associated with the main games (or none that I know so far). Zelda OoT is being developed by Grezzo which is freeing up the Zelda team to make the new Zelda game.

They're also seem to be forgetting about the newer games coming out such as Kid Icarus, Professor Layton x Phoenix Wright, Kingdom Hearts, Megaman Legends 3, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries/Revelations, Mario Kart (which is coming out this year), Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, Super Mario 3DS and so on.

I love that the 3DS is getting remakes :)
But haters are haters, people always like to find something new to complain about :P

Ocarina of Time 3D is being Co-Developed by Grezzo.
And it's perfectly normal that people don't want remakes. What people most look for is new stuff. And it's time and money that could be directed towards a new game after all.

I, myself, don't mind the remakes as long as they don't interfere with a new game's development. They can sit in GameStop for all I care. Kinda similar to the "Super Guide" in Ocarina of Time, don't like it? Don't use it.

And the derp doesn't exactly make you look smart.

"Why are people against the 3DS getting remakes?"

They find it objectionable to pay for the same content twice (or more)?
The same reason dubbed versions of silent films are not sought after?
Related to the above- technology aside has not the medium moved on a fair bit?
Have you not been paying attention to GBA (more 16 bit ports than I care to think about) and DS (likewise)?

I am not saying there not serious flaws with some of those thinking points but I am mentioning them mainly as thinking points. Equally you have some valid arguments.

In the end I will close with "if we are going the games as an entertainment medium/"art form" thing (ignoring financial implications) will any good come out of remaking things?"

Because a remake can't be made to be (if not already,in which case better) (an) entertainment medium/"art form"?

There are games coming out + remakes there is no need for all the hate imo. :/

But the thing is they don't have to pay for the same game again. It's mainly a choice if they want to or not. And im making my argument mainly towards the 3DS because people seem to be thinking that Nintendo is just wasting their time on ports and developing any new games. Some people just assume their imagination is lacking despite still developing newer games to come out in the near future.

And yes, some good will come out of remakes. People who haven't played Zelda OoT or any remake for that matter will have a chance to play it for the first time. Zelda OoT for example. That game came out over a decade ago and was widely acclaimed as one of the best games ever. Although the game as been re-released several times already with the Gamecube and on Virtual Console, I wouldn't be surprised if kids were put off due to it having "crappy graphics". That's how a remake can possibly put some life again in an old product and spark some interests in the younger generation and give them the opportunity to play a great game.

Oh, and even then, people, like me, are interested in playing an upgrade version of the game. I'm interested in new additions and how the 3D looks with the game and im sure many people are curious as well.

I just find it kinda silly to buy a new system only to look forward to playing old games. "Remade" old games, but still the same old game.

Considering I can pay $10 a pop for Star Fox 64 and Ocarina of Time on the Virtual Console (or pirate them on an emulator for free), I don't see why people are willing to rush out to the stores to pay 4 times that much for that game, just with "better graphics". And as I hear all the time here, "graphics don't make gameplay".

I'd rather them deliver a new Zelda handheld game (especially after the awfulness of Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks) then remake an older one. The system just came out; I want to see what the system's new capabilities are, not some old game that looks new.

Don't you say something along the lines if it has better graphics as well get that one.
Talking about that street fighter argument/discussion.

Or something like "graphics enhance gameplay".

You forgetting the people who haven't play and the portability factor.

I haven't play OOT nor Master quest add-on.

The Xbox 360/PS3 version of SSFIV is also half the price of the 3DS version, has better controls, and has better online. I can say for the VC release of OoT that it's also a 1/4th of the price. Maybe less features, but I think 1/4th of the price for essentially the same game is a pretty no-brainer decision.

This is directed to Guild:

1) OoT3DS has Master Quest, and I'm sure other small additions aside from the graphical makeover.
2) It's portable, which is a big factor for some people.
3) Nostalgia. Lots of Zelda fans including myself are excited for a remake. There hasn't been an OoT remake yet, just ports.
4) Stop acting like the only 3DS games coming out in the future/that have been announced are ports/remakes. Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, etc. aren't ports.

1) OoT3DS has Master Quest, and I'm sure other small additions aside from the graphical makeover.: Is that really worth 4x the price point? I don't think so.
2) It's portable, which is a big factor for some people. I don't really think it is on a game designed on a console. It seems if I took any game and put it on a portable that saying "It's portable!" wouldn't be a great selling point.
3) Nostalgia. Lots of Zelda fans including myself are excited for a remake. There hasn't been an OoT remake yet, just ports. Wanna know why there was no OoT remake? Because it didn't need one. It was fine out of the box.
4) Stop acting like the only 3DS games coming out in the future/that have been announced are ports/remakes. Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, etc. aren't ports. There's been hardly info on any of those. And Animal Crossing is basically the same exact game. I'm not saying the library is essentially ports/remakes, it's just that they've been pushing the system post launch with nothing but ports/remakes. Once it starts getting some original games maybe I'll be a little more forgiving to it, but for now it's stuff I've already played, but in 3D. Whoopie.

The portability and convenience of the remakes is exactly why I want them. I could care less that I can "get it cheaper" for a different, not portable, system. Because...guess what, I can pirate OOT in 5 minutes and run it on an emulator. That's not the point, at all.
The cost really doesn't matter much. I have a shitty minimum wage job and the price is nothing to me.

I bought OOT at launch, and you bet your ass i'm gonna buy OOT 3DS at launch too.

That said, seeing some original games on the 3DS will be nice once it starts to happen.

I've been playing splinter cell 3d longer than any game I bought and still love it maybe because im still scarred from the DS version.

I'm not just against the 3DS getting remakes, I mean all remakes in general. I find it is a waste of money for both the consumer and developers, and time and resources. If the game suffered the first time but it is a good game, sure. Like Shadow of the Colossus.

But so far all the remakes that were mentioned on the 3DS, there's no need for it at all.

I consider remakes to be something that's done when a developer has ran out of ideas, is losing money on other ventures, or the console itself is running out of steam.

Theres really no reason for a remake at this point in a console's life cycle.

Except people who haven't play them,lost/never/sold the original and want to play again or finish,or just plain want to play them in a new view or way.

Why wait that long it isn't interfering with anything else.

I'm not against it. If developers want to take a stab at making a game better, go for it. If you don't want it, or if you think it's cheap for developers to do so, or if they've run out of ideas, don't buy it. I'm all for having an upgraded StarFox 64 in 3D on the go, especially if it features expanded multiplayer. Same goes for OOT, and any other title they want to remake. If I like the original title, and they're expanding upon it, then I'm cool with it. Portability is huge for me, as well, so if you want to take a console title that you think will play well with the 3DS' control scheme and make it portable, I'm listening.

Most remakes, I could see your point...But I am hard pressed to believe that the number of people that have never played OoT, and does not have access to at least one form of the game thus far would be justified. Will it print money? Sure the hell will. My point here is, that you have the n64 version...then you have the Gamecube version, now you have the game on VC, not to mention those who have access to an emulated copy on the PC or otherwise.

because first they need to get some how do you say umm...... new games out. not all those crappy low review scores trash nintendo released at launch
heres a example "STEEL DIVER" or how about a remake example "RAYMAN 3D"

But at the same time people who want a legit copy probably want a portable one the most.

And they not working on new games? Maybe people like the launch games including steel diver? (they might not be the best, but still liked.)

Maybe some people never play those ports and remakes such as OOT.
