I am jealous and I want what you have!

So, as some of you might know I just bought a Sansa e280 v1, and I think it's awesome. I had it rockboxed, and I made it even more awesome.

My cousin shows me her Sansa Fuze 8GB, and I secretly rage. It has a landscape form factor on the screen instead of the portrait form factor on the e200s. Not only that, but it fully supports audiobooks, and audible audiobooks, and SDHC on the default firmware. Not to mention the scroll wheel is SO much better than the e200 series. More like a first gen iPod, really, which I won't admit anywhere but here, but I like the first gen scroll wheel better than the shitty touch wheels they have today.

Sanza Fuze, you will be mine one day, rockboxable or not.

the sansa fuze was my first mp3...I loved it
pop in a 8GB micro sd and you got 16GB of space

I've moved on to an ipod, but I had some good memories with my sansa fuze
I hope one day apple allows storage expansion

Mildly jealous. How much would you be willing to get rid of it for? :D

@RoMee "Apple: iPod 1g through 5.5g, iPod Mini and iPod Nano 1g" These are the Apple models that are supported.

yeah, but it's unstable
Rockbox runs on these players, but is incomplete, less usable or has problems that limit it to advanced users

Thank for the...er..offer but I was refeering to boxshot. anyway, go check the Rockbox website. you might have your model listed for compatibility. Balls. Just read your edit. Hope the compatibility s better for your iPod some day.

and thank you Rydian for introducing me to Rockbox. it has been a life saver since the audiobook support for the e200 series is shitty. lol

I'm also running rockbox. How do you feel about that?
If you posted this earlier I could have told you about the deal on woot.com for refurb fuzes for about $30. I think they were 4gb or 8gb.
I'm not getting rid of it. :D

just YESTERDAY there was an offer for a $22 Fuze 4GB with $5 shipping. I didn't have the money then. it's like woot is TAUNTING me. The last offer for it was the day that I bought my e280, and it was too late when I saw the woot deal.

Yeah that one. :P Time slips in my mind.
BTW woot tempts me all the time. I'd like a clip+ right now as an extra. :P

I considered a Clip, but I had an offer on eBay I just couldnt refuse for an e280 that was $10 off of the new Clip of the same capacity. I saw that as a great deal. $30 for a e280 (8GB).

I found a sansa e250 (2gb model) the other day so I also decided to rockbox it.
The only problem with it is the fact that it lags a lot when switching songs.
I don't know if that happens to you, but it only seems to lag in the rockbox firmware.

the lag is there, but it's not really noticeable after a while. It was annoying as hell, but the good outweighs the bad (including the shitty video support. Yeah, i'm looking at you Rockbox devs...yeah you too SanDisk. Why couldt you just stick with MP4, huh? why did you have to be special???)
The screen is a bit small to watch things you know.
At home, yes absolutely, but on the go (which I admit, I am out of the house most of the day) It's nice watching an episode of Smallville here or there, while waiting at the DMV, or at a doctor's office waiting room.

...You bought a Sansa E280? I bought one 4 damn years ago, I'm surprised people would actually buy one over a large list of superior players.

Rockbox is cool, but all things considered, an ipod video 5th gen is a significantly better choice as a player to rockbox. Sansa clip+ is fine too.

one cost me $30. The other costs significantly more. On a budget, you can't do much better unless you got a Fuze. the e200 series is still much better than most brands today, if you take into consideration the storage size, the ability for SDHC media, and the features of Rockbox.

The Sansa Clip+ does all those things with an added benefit if a largely superior sound capabilities.
The iPod Video 30 gig can be had for less than 60 dollars on craigslist, as well as a larger screen for movies.
There's also the older ipods and models that can be purchased at a cheaper price.

A friend of mine recently sold a Fuze V1 8 gig with 16 gig micro sdhc for about 60 dollars. 24 gigs of space with rockbox. Cheap, affordable, sounds great, and easily superior than the E200.

I still have a e200 v1, 2 gb with a 1gb msd, rockboxed. Thing is awesome, the screen was a bit small for watching movies but that problem was solved when I got my DS flashcart. I find the song lag is skin dependent, so skins that are more complicated and have cover-art etc will use more system resources and cause more lag.
