It's coming back.

For a while I've had myself under control and avoiding my triggers, staying away from self harm and in general feeling decent (except my back, it's so tight I can't touch my knees). My depression triggers are yelling, screaming, arguing, and being alone with nothing to and no one to talk to.

For a while I filled the loneliness and time to myself with blasting some NIN and play a card game called Magic the Gathering.

What I'm really here for are some activities to help avoid my triggers.

think of happy, sexy stuff? then fap?

or, you could watch some funny shows/ comedians. thats what i do when im sad.

cheer up dude. :)

EDIT. damn restless leg. hmm. maybe try watching shows in a portable devices, then walk around the house?

Streets of Rage. Seriously. You'd be surprised how theraputic it is to punch an endless stream of people in the face. Only this way you get roughly the same results as doing it in person with none of the negative feedback. Plus you can play co-op, meaning you have a friend come over and that should keep your mind off depression. Especially if the friend in question is of the opposite gender and cute.

so does that mean you can't do outdoor activities such as sport or go to parks etc?
What can you do so far that doesn't limit you?

My house is full of screaming, I can go out and do things. And something like street fighter seems like a good way to get some anger out.

I can identify with your situation. It sounds a lot like my first 20 years here on Earth. Honestly, I have found that the single best thing for warding off depression is regular exercise. If you could find a physical activity that you could make a hobby out of I bet it would be a step in a positive direction. Sports seems like the obvious first choice, but that requires organizing a lot of people, which isn't always possible. If you can't do that, you might try dance or martial arts. When I was about 18 I found a dodgeball league down at my local YMCA. I got plenty of exercise, it ate up a huge amount of time, and I didn't have to spend it alone.

If your back is too hurt to do any of that, Yoga might be an option. It includes a lot of stretching that might help it. In fact there are yoga programs specifically for low back pain.

When I was a stressed teenager I took up knife throwing for awhile. It was physical and a great way to release my anger in a controlled environment. A beginners set was like 10 USD at a nearby martial arts supply shop. They usually have those crazy metal playing cards which are pretty fun. Which reminds me, have you ever seen those people that can toss a real playing card right into a melon? I never got that good at it, but hell if it wasn't fun to try. Packs of playing cards are dirt cheap.

I realize these are all weird hobbies, but hell... I was a weird kid. Hope something here helps, and I hope you feel better.

Finally got an appointment with an ENT, but it's not for another month. It's already been 4- days of loud ringing in my left ear, substantial pain on left side of my neck and left side on the back of my head. Doctors here at the regular clinic put me on a couple different meds for a month that did absolutely nothing, then they told me there's nothing more they can do for me despite being in pain and my ear sounding like im underwater and ringing.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Then three chiropractor appointments which also didn't help at all so i didn't go to the 4th. Been trying to get ahold of this ENT clinic out of town for a week and finally got an appointment set up. But its not til the 17th of July so I have to suffer all this shit for nearly another month.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
I hope relief from all of this is on the way because I've felt so defeated and severaly lacking in sleep because of the pain and ringing.
