Buying new 'phones, maybe.

Not that I'm not pleased with my current ones (Yuin PK3), I've had them for a while and like them a lot. Only problem is, they piss me off when I'm working out. When we have to run laps in PE, these fuckers just refuse to stay on. I have to stop every 15 seconds to fix them or they'll fall out. So I'm thinking of buying something cheap just for our running days, and I guess as a backup in case something ever happens to my main (and only) pair.

I was thinking these JVC Marshmallows. In ear, supposedly comfortable, 11 bucks with free 2 day shipping. I think for that price, they're worth a try.

Marshmellows are great for that price. Not sure if it'll help with your current problem, since IEMs aren't that great for exercising, but they sound pretty good for what you're paying.

Just don't expect Pk3 quality.

I have their self-titled album and "ABINGDON ROAD". Both are reaaally good.

I had those for like 4 months. The cables are nice and durable, but the "marshmallow" part is a little bothersome. You have to squeeze them so they can fit in your ear, and then they sponge back up, for a nice fit. The problem is, that after a a few weeks of use, the cushions gradually become stiff, and much less comfortable.

Hm... well the problem is that I need to find something that is cheap, comfortable, sounds good, and will stay on while running. I was also thinking about the KOSS SportaPro/PortaPro, although those are much more expensive compared to the Marshmallow. I'm not even sure if the PortaPros would stay on, though.

I need to find a torrent to abingdon road, got flacs for the other

Koss KSC75 would be the best option in that case. Cheap, sounds great, and has lifetime warrenty.

Having the portapros before, they're pretty good for working out. Not really confident about running with them.

I jog plenty, and in-ear 'phones never slip out. You will probably be annoyed by over-the-head headphones.
I currently use these:

They were about $16 when I bought them, but it seems Amazon has stopped carrying them.

I believe these may be a good alternative Sony MDR-ED21LP

The SoundMAGIC PL21 will blow the marshmellows out of the water, it's $17 from focalprice with 15% off coupon. It's fun and dark sounding and can be worn over-the-air or just down. If you want something that's more airy and has a wider soundstage, then the PL30's are good too.

Let's just say for 11 bucks they'll suit your J-pop just fine. With my experience in headphones, I've always found that the high-end makes (Sony, Phillips, Sennheiser) are all worth the bigger price tag, Sennheiser especially.

I think I'll probably end up going with the KSC-75. I've read several reviews and it seems that they're pretty good in most aspects. Plus, the clip design seems like it would be great for running and stuff. I would want to get the KSC-35 (which apparently have the same drivers as the PortaPros!) but they're 20 more bucks. Dunno if it's worth the 35 dollar pricetag. It seems like I have a lot of alternatives for under 20 bucks.

@ShadowXP: I listen to mostly jrock, metal, viskei stuff, and some classical and jazz. Not much jpop.

Yeah, I was thinking about asking head-fi. But then again, for under 25 bucks, its not really a huge deal. I'm not sure what Amazon's policy is, but I can probably get a refund if I don't like whatever I get.

I've been looking into the Sound Magic PL21 and they have some pretty favorable reviews. Decisions, decisions...

Edit: Aw man, shipping takes 2-3 weeks for the PL21.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
