I brought back a rrod 360 today. It was out of warranty and free. So i took it. Its not that difficult, but its tedious. I pulled all the plastic off first, then unscrewed the metal case. pulled components out, like the DVD drive. The heat sinks are secured to the mother board(which is about the size of the whole 360 lengh and width). The heat sinks are usually the problem, cause microsoft fails hard at making things. The CPU, GPU, and heat sinks must be solid together. Good old Ms used shitty heat sink paste and simply "secured" the heatsinks down with "X" shaped clamps. So i took them off. That required taking the mother board completely out of the 360. I coated the heatsinks with Arctic Silver 5 paste and screwed the sinks down hard. From there its really touch and go. you have to feather out the weight that the specific screw needs to be putting on the mother board and heatsink by turing on and off the 360, while holding down a specific part of the tower. Do it too long and you run the risk of burning yourself if you applied the heat sinks correctly. The should be heating up to dangerous levels in under a minute. Thats what they are there for i guess. I finished by drilling holes in the case so i can easily get the the screws if i need to tweak them later and not have to pull the entire case off( which is a bitch ).

im going back to the university tommorrow and there is a ton of snow being dumped conveniently between me (Pennsylvania) and college (Indiana). Awesome. on top of that, my mother is all like, "You need to have a emergency survival kit with you! what if something goes wrong!" Go away mom.
So my Wii now runs games off of a harddrive. sweet.
Does anyone know if its possible to take a DS phat and mod the screens with brighter ones like the DS lite's? I would really like to have a DS phat case and hardware, but brighter screens. Plus the L&R buttons will be better too.
How do you live without regrets? If you dont do something, you might regret not doing it later. If you do do something and you get hurt, damage something, or lose something important, you regret doing that action.
