My School system is dumb

Like seriously, are you for real? For those of you who don't know, I (unfortunately) live in the deep south. We get many different weather patterns of course. So today, we have rain that's pouring down like their is no tomorrow. Like seriously, the power went out like 5 times while I was sleeping and I heard the thunder cracking God knows how many times. All the counties around mine have closed down schools but guess what? My county doesn't even decide to close down for school. But their idioticy doesn't stop their! Last year, towards the end of the year, our school power went out for a whole 2 days. TWO DAYS and yet, they WOULDN'T LET US GO HOME. I mean really, what are we supposed to do in the dark for two days at school? They couldn't even make lunch in the cafeteria let alone teach us.

Sorry, I just had to let this out.

Georgia yes
It's not the school system, it's the principal.
Its the school system. The school system decides whether a school closes or not. Like last year, again, my principal was going to let us go home but the county refused to let the buses home the 2 days our power went out.

....I hope you know that I'm not from down here. lol  I have a northern accent cause I'm from New York :D

So now, we're basically trapped inside our neighborhood (my mom didn't make us go to school, thank God). The roads to our house are blocked off do to the road connecting to our house being flooded. So we may have to evacuate soon. Not only that, but several roads have been blocked off so you can't even go to and from school. So for those unfortunate to go to school, they're trapped there for a while. Also the park near one of the middle school is flooded so basically all you can see is the roof...this storm is just getting bad. Several other neighborhoods had to evacuate and like I said previously, we may have to as well...

Hey, I take offense at that, as I'm from West Georgia. Not everyone here is a hillbilly...

Rock Raiyu, which part of Georgia are you from?

West Georgia. I live in "Corn" County. If you catch my drift.

And to update on the situation, we didn't have to evacuate the neighborhood but at the same time school is closed till further noticed. So we have no school tomorrow and possibly no school Wednesday.

Flooding and raining in Georgia state eh? I lived in the City of Burlington, Southwestern Ontario, Canada. The weather of this year is quite moderate, hence the weakness hurricanes with harder rains but don't destroy many buildings in this city.

So, Rock Raiyu, do you believe it will destroy your house during flooding?

One winter, my high school made us go to school when it was -30F outside.

o.O No not destroy houses, some houses have already been flooded and have evacuated (none of the houses in my neighborhood though). And there isn't anything in that thread.

...where exactly do you live for it to get that cold??

Wow. I thought my school was dumb, but yours kicks mine to the curb.

(I'm from Alabama which is probably worse than Georgia. :P.)

If it helps, you are in Georgia. So far you're the smartest guy from Georgia I've met.

My school is pretty dumb. I hear the teachers always complain about "budget issues", yet they obviously had enough cash to install overhead projectors (so we can watch PowerPoints on a big screen and stuff) and to pay for 2 big flatscreen TV's in the lunchroom. They can do all that and yet neglect updating some crappy rooms (like actually giving them some AC), updating the bathrooms so they don't smell like wet dog and pee (I know it's a bathroom, but your even you shouldn't smell the pee unless it sits there for like a week). Not to mention I've met some of the dumbest people, like my elementary school prinicpal who believed I was retarded and threw me back a grade before I could even adjust to the previous one. Or the middle school VP who thought I was some gay-bashing homophobe when it's really quite the opposite. Or my Spanish teacher last year who was born without common sense or any kind of actual smarts outside of learning Spanish.

But hands down, yours is worse.
