I took the plunge, and it was worth it...

I upgraded my laptop to Windows 11 Pro. It's much more snappy and responsive, even on this shitty Ryzen 3 3200 APU dual-core. No more desktop lag is really nice. Haven't run into any issues either, but I do miss the taskbar buttons being small, and set to "combine only when needed.", otherwise I'm loving the hell out of it.

My laptop's display is only a 6-bit (yes, 6-bit) TN or TFT panel at 1366x768, but I'm running AMD's Super Resolution to give me 1920x1080 worth of desktop space. I can't stand using any Windows desktop under 1080p.

Wasn't a fan of the beta/test versions... But I upgraded to 11 last night on my desktop and I've gotta say.. I'm impressed. It's really responsive and there hasn't been any compatibility issues with the software and games I've tried. We'll see, though.

Yeah, this has been the smoothest Windows upgrade for me so far.

If it's faster, I'll gladly get it.

But the UI...

Without something customized, I hate the UI so much.

I actually like it, especially the new start menu. As long as I can keep it to the left side, I'm happy.

Call me paranoid, but even though I installed Win10 on Day One after being impressed with the previews, 11 hasn't done the same for me in "wow factor", besides the lesser CPU overhead.

I'll take any performance gain I can get. And they made large strides in development in a very short amount of time. I'm impressed. Just wish they would gut the legacy crap out that's still in there from Windows 7 and XP.

Wait, what DOES the Start Menu look like? Does it still have those godawful "Live Tiles" to the side, or does it return to a plain ol' functional menu?
Currently use Open-Shell Menu to make it look like XP's Start Menu; so much nicer than 10's ugly trash. Hopefully they went back to 7's design in 11.

It looks better, the live tiles are gone in favor of widgets, and the widgets are on their own menu, out of the way.

Thanks for the screenshot. Certainly looks better than 10's, but still not what I'd personally count as 'ideal'. I'm a simple guy; I like my menu to be a menu, y'know?
Yeah, I get that. And the "All Apps" in the top right of the start menu shows your installed apps, just like you'd expect. You can also type what you're looking for, and the results are nearly instant. Works really well, at least for me.

@PandaPandel, OG 3DS is -not- fun to put back together, and that's coming from someone who at the time was pretty familiar with reassembling DS Lites. Total pain in the ass, and screws of varying length that'll poke through the face surface of the bottom half of the shell if you put the wrong screw in the wrong spot. Totally not talking from experience there, nope
