I would take you more seriously, Pablo_CL, but that was actually funny.
Try saying that's why Japan is a problem to Gun Ownership while you're at it.

Gender identity is related to Sexual identity, and the whole physical effort is to transition Sexually, through Hormones.
But if your argument is that Hormones do not differentiate Sexuality in the Human Species, then I will need you to reconsider your understanding of Medicine, Louse.

If it were just a mental state then, theoretically, I would see little problem with it for Children.
It is reversible and does not swap out one set of Sexual Organs for another without even reaching the maturity to understand their use for pleasure and reproduction.

@linuxares I don't really see how transitioning would be considered an escape from reality or depression. I know many depressed people who aren't trans, I know many people who want to escape reality who are not trans (most of them play video games). There are better solutions to being depressed or wanting to escape reality than transitioning.

In regards to the recent uptick in people coming out as trans, people have always been trans. Throughout history transness has flourished and been widely accepted in most non-western societies. During the colonial era many of these societies were destroyed and their ideologies crushed in favor of "western values", values that tend to not believe in transness. Transness was actively repressed and persecuted by colonial governments. This has caused trans people to go into hiding for a while but due to more globalization/interconnectivity granted by the
internet, trans people have been able to start coming out again.

It's the same thing as more people coming out as gay after pro-gay laws are passed. These people didn't just suddenly become gay, they already were gay, it just became safe for them to come out. This is the same thing with trans people now.

wait what's your argument here? how are those 2 related??? am i the dumb one or are you the dumb one (we might be both stupid while we're at it)

imagine thinking that wanting to be trans, a highly exploitable and vulnerable group of people that are exposed to violence and vile ideals on a daily basis, is an escape from reality. couldn't be me.

very similar to people who come up with excuses for people "choosing" to be gay, like ah yes i decided that i wanted to be called a f*g for the rest of my life cause it just gets me going <3

Yeah i get insulted for being trans on a daily basis, because of course, everyone would choose to subject themselves to a lot of pain and discrimination just because they're not old enough to drink alcohol, makes sense right? (obvious sarcasm here, the transphobe might not understand it)

@linuxares honestly, it seems the more recent explosion in trans people seems to be linked to wider acceptance of trans people and more publicly open trans people. The same thing happened in the 90’s with the LGB part of the community. Social acceptance of homosexuality brought rise to more people coming out as homosexual. As for the other concerns, many trans people tend to come out due to depression and often to get support. Being trans can feel isolating, which leads to depression. Many end up finding themselves far happier being out as trans and possibly having a supportive network as a result. Often times this is less about escaping reality but trying to embrace reality. Even those who end up not being trans can still end up happy knowing they were able to explore that part of their identity. Being trans also doesn’t require taking hormones nor puberty blocker. Of course it is still more reversible if they do take puberty blockers and far less traumatic than trying to transition as an adult.

Don't lump me in with the people that insult you for being Transgender.

My argument is for Children, take the time to read at least the first entry, before the wall of text preamble.
