Just buy a vita they are dirt cheap now, although i prefer the 3ds and the mini consoles the psx mini is my fave tombi 1 and 2 and jade coccoon play great on there.
@emigre I could also just play the Wii version thanks to Dolphin. While I'm sure fan translators can do a job better than paid ones at times, unless if the translation goes into Breath of Fire II territory, I think I'll be good there!
considering it struggles playing ps2 games with it's hardware and the games made on it were just moved over to ps3/ ps4 it's not like we'll really miss anything if it never exists. It's inevitable for those systems to be recreated..
I am a console and handheld hoarder, I mean I have a problem with having too many games and consoles and roms and emulators. But yet I sold my Vita in it's prime, and never looked back. It is one of the most disappointing handhelds including consoles of all time. Had great graphics and looked cool. But Sony half assed that one. My 2nd most disappointing console/handheld is Xbox One so I agree with the poster who mentioned that one too.
Confused as to why you believe this one game is the only reason people would want to develop a Vita emulator, lol.
Personally, I'd like to be able to emulate Miracle Girls Festival at some point, among a few others.
I'd dare say Persona 4 Golden is the only game that's stood the test of time. Lots of people who had no interest in getting a Vita still want to play this game. Very likely, everyone else already just got a Vita, or at the very least a super cheap PSTV. I'd personally like to see Freedom Wars and a few others in 4k with a better frame rate. I guess the emulator would have to find a way to get online working again (or at least without PSN) for some of those games to be interesting, though.
@Sophie-bear one of the goal of emulation is to preserve the games, but what if the most popular game is actually ported to PC? it seems everyone just lost the incentive. Also, why is the PS vita development so slow? is it really hard to emulate or everyone just think it's not worth to preserve vita games like xbox games?
@eriol33 One of the reasons for emulation development being slow is that, in the era of Patreon and other ways for people to get paid thanks to a group of people chipping in to help with expenses, it can be deflating when the system you're emulating in question is kind of like the Atari Jaguar when it has only three games when worth coming back to, and in the case of the Vita, those games were Persona 4 Golden, that Uncharted Game, and maybe Gravity Rush, which already has a port to PS4 and the Uncharted game I can see being remastered if it hasn't been remastered already.
Personally, what I think Sony should do, if they ever want to go back into the portable business, is make a PS4 portable, PS4 Switch or some form of an upgraded portable. I think I heard that the Jaguar CPU in the PS4 was a mobile chip.
@Silent_Gunner the Jaguar chip is used in laptops and in MiniPCs. Both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One use chips based on the Jaguar microarchitecture, with more powerful GPUs than AMD sells in its own commercially available Jaguar APUs.
@eriol33 Again, it's one game of many exclusives. Game preservation is just one goal as you said, furthermore. I don't think the incentive is lost, and I don't think it's impossible to emulate. The right people just have to decide they care enough to get the job done. As for Xbox, I'm not sure what you mean. Xbox emulation has been making huge strides in the past couple of years (DESPITE Halo being on PC, and being remastered and released on PC once again).
