2007-08 were the best 2 years for gaming

Best years and you start with a sports game? Bold choice there. I am not going to entirely disagree that such a period was good, indeed the PS360-directX 9 era was one of the best periods I have ever had in gaming, and stands in stark contrast to today's mediocrity.

As for mid 90s not engine using... Doom clone had passed and now we were onto quake. Unreal also first rose up then. That said engine reuse happened way back before that as well.

They did. Though it was at least a meaningful discussion where today it is all pretty pointless. Also I wish they had cared more -- can't play most N64 games today but give me the same games on something else in modern forms and they are often still with lessons to teach games today.

I will take the either more channels than you need or effectively infinite stuff of today any time. If you want to make a bleepy-bloopy track you can still do that, and you can also give that a nice twist to be even better still.

Despite professing a fondness for madden 08 maybe they have some modicum of a sense of taste.
