I don't remember USA or FX being uncensored, but if they are have you noticed the frequency of advertisement on those networks? Commercial-heavy networks like History Channel and Comedy Central are definitely censored, even more so than broadcast TV. An episode of Pawn Stars was on TV at someone's house I was visiting not more than 2 years ago, and yes, they actually bleeped out the word "badass." Try watching an R-rated movie on Comedy Central, and half of it is missing lol. Now you might get lucky and catch Tosh.0 uncensored at like 11 at night, but that was a rare occasion, and to my knowledge, doesn't happen anymore.This is because advertisers actually think the average consumer is dumb enough to associate a particular product with whatever show they're watching. That's what keeps ruining youtube as well.

Did you know also that FCC regulations don't apply after like 10 PM for regular broadcast TV? This means that when Fox shows reruns of South Park at 1 am, they could be uncensored, but they're not. Why? Again, because of advertisers.

One time someone got offended BECAUSE I censored my swearing on this site.

It's relatively new in the sense that during the 80s and 90s, mainstream media was more "edgy" for lack of a better term. Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails were pop bands during that era for God's sake. Also Pink Floyd has a great song about Mary Whitehouse.

Mary Nighthouse at least had the excuse of being a religious nutter. And without her we would never have got the awsome BBC comedy programme The Mary Whitehouse experience. The shows whole premise was just to piss poor Mary off lol.

Reminds me of an old Goodies episode where they made an episode taking the p*** out of her as a response to her liking the show.

Eventually they succeeded in p***ing her off by having Tim Brooke-Taylor show his pants with a carrot on it.

I printed your list out 1st lol. Hindsight has the misused 'your' lol, I swear it's just the bourbon talking! Prawns and 'yabbies' over here actually; the shrimp reference was purely targeting the USA for tourism. At the time many Australians would not have known what a shrimp was. I only worked out recently that walking 500 miles from anywhere in Scotland would either have me going in circles or out to sea!!!

which would still be walking if wearing an old-school diving suit... I guess.

All I got out of this is that people are still easily offended and the Scottish have no filter. I fuckin love it.

I just remember it from a TV advert for Fosters and at the end a guy says Hooroo and walks off and the other guy is like yep bye then. Never heard it said anywhere else lol
