They finally got me... Goodbye A9LH and hello B9S

Sort of a bittersweet goodbye today. I finally did the transfer from A9LH to B9S so I could play MK7 online. Goodbye A9LH  you will be missed, but not forgotten. I know I have gone to the side of the devil, but do know that it was done out of desperation.

On the flip side, I can play Tomodachi Life now!

Who in their right mind would miss a9lh and it's bullshit random chance to instantly brick even if you did everything right? Certainly not those who got unrecoverable bricks from it for one:P

lol
There was literally ZERO benefit to staying on A9LH after B9S released... this post is basically just saying "I found a reason to overcome my laziness"

To be fair, It always worked. Also, when I was able to use online, there was no issue. One thing that kept me back from changing earlier was because of all these B9S users getting banned.

It worked FOR YOU, not everyone. There actually was a chance of like 0.1% of instant perma-brick and that was RANDOM. b9s is 100% safe to install and use, plus more up-to-date. It wasn't b9s users getting banned, it was people that did stupid stuff online like playing leaked Pokemon games and the like...

Wait, how long has B9S been out now? I remember ditching A9LH for it on, like, the second day of it being released. Even way back then there was pretty much zero point in staying on A9LH...

I actually just did this on my o3ds like 3 weeks ago.

I hadn't used my 3ds in ages - and only updated to use the latest luma.

I'm still in utter disbelief over this one myself, can't believe he finally updated. I honestly thought I'd never see this day. Glad to see you finally left the dark ages and joined the b9s party

@sarkwalvein Don't worry, a guy in my Uni class I know of is still on Cakes, perhaps you two could hang out together:P

Entirely agree with others. There's no real reason to update if you have a system that just works. It's sort of funny--or sad--how some people are shaming other people for not updating. As for missing a9lh? *shrug* I wouldn't go as far as saying missing it, but it's easy in hindsight to say it'd be nice if the a9lh bricking rate was zero instead of very, very small. I'd say the thing I don't miss is all the steps, the downgrading, the upgrading, etc. :/

No real reason but you are stuck on older firmwares, as newer ones need updated Luma and Luma dropped a9lh support. Also homebrews loading off of the chainloader also dropped support for the most part and don't work well if any with a9lh if you want the newer features of some. On top of that not being able to go online in some games as they require you to be on latest firmware is another issue and so on. Sure, it's fine as long as what you do doesn't need any updating, but changing to b9s literally takes less than 10 minutes, so update to make sure you don't have any issues when you do need to update other stuff.

@rivenmain well better than me mine are still on REI LOL
i updated REI to get whatever was latest emunand for samus
but then i realized it broke retroarc but i have not had the time nor a big enough SD as i want to update plus not sure where to being, N3dsxl is still on 9x sysnanand , and old xl still on 4.5

I never had any crashes on A9LH (except for tomodachi life). But today I managed to get three separate crashes on B9S.... Ugh... On the bright side, I can play online now.

You DO realize that crashes are COMPLETELY irrelevant to b9s or a9lh, right? Those two are basically signature patches during startup to allow unofficial code to run when booting and that's pretty much all there is to them, when using the 3DS any crashes can be from specific games, corrupted SD cards, bad installs, etc., but not a9lh/b9s (unless literally when turning on and even then it's unlikely), thought you'd be able to understand that much by the exception handlers that come up during crashes...
