Every unique commenter means an extra $10 being donated. There's no clause that says you have to have signed up before the thread or anything! The site is still useful for non-Aussies, as there are electronic deals e.g. apps or ebooks etc being free for a limited time.

I'm at a loss. How can you make money by having people post messages in an internet forum?

It's by number of unique commenters, so the bot would have to sign up and validate emails etc. Bit complicated for a bot! But they capped it at 1000 probably in case someone tried to do that.
