First day of High School

Looks I'm old enough to go to high school now.

It was fun to meet my old friends again. I even met some people I haven't seen in over 3 years, isn't that nice?

I have engineering class, Algebra II, Spanish, and Biology. So far all the classes seem pretty fun.

Wish me luck, and tell me what I should expect in the next three~ish years. Thanks all!

Just take an hour or so each day to go over anything you don't understand. Also make sure to join a sports team or something.

Enjoy your time there, it doesn't last long. At the end of those four years, everyone you know will be scattered to the winds, so enjoy the time you have with them now. I can't stress this enough. I graduated from high school this year and am starting my first year of college, and my biggest regret is not spending enough time with the people I care about. Now they're 2,000 miles away, and no matter how many times you say you'll keep in touch, you drift apart from them as everyone moves on with their lives in wherever they find themselves.

I don't know what your future plans are, but if you're planning to go to college, join a club or community service group in your first year and work your way up to a leadership position of some kind. Colleges love to see that you're involved in your community and have achieved something from your time in high school. That includes sports and other competitions, like Robotics leagues. Go win a state championship (or the equivalent if you don't live in the US).

High school academics, in my experience, have typically been a ton of busywork with very little meaningful anything. It's very easy to do well in high school classes, it just might take time from the sheer amount of work they make you do. Try not to get consumed with high school work and make sure you make time for things that matter -- your family, your friends, and your hobbies.

Lemme know if you have any other questions about high school.

I've been in school for 4 weeks now. I've got CS fundamentals, some infosec class, German, honors biology, algebra something, and the rest of your standard stuff. I've got plenty of friends but I still strongly dislike HS.

Don't goof up when it comes time to do the SAT/ACT. That thing is paramount. Assuming if you're American. I basically skipped my way through HS and while I enjoyed my time, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. High school sucks, with 100% certainty, but if you just get through those four years and do well, you'll graduate with pride, knowing that you'll have a fantastic future ahead of you. At least if college is concerned.

You have input from graduated people so here is advice from someone just two years ahead of you:

-Do your work and build a reputation with teachers. Really important IMO. If you for some reason fail or can't do something, they'll have more consideration if you did better throughout the year. If they assign you with a group that sucks for a project, it's more likely they'll consider your efforts and not the final results and you get a better grade than if you had a worse reputation. That's one example.

-If you don't understand something, sit down, and try to process it. If you still can't, ask a teacher, they are there for that. You should also go over things you consider important every once in a while.

-Enjoy the ride. You will remember this time of your life, whatever you do. Make it a good memory.

just be yourself and be social talk to people there are friends all around you

Oh boi, my only sibling started highschool 7 days ago. Driver's ed seems to be on my sibling's mind quite a bit.

but just wait till your senior year, the only thing that you'll bring to class is a paperclip, a string, and a pencil.

That's what I used to always bring

and now in college its basically a repeated version of high school, except new friends and a new area

Good luck. Focus on your academics, and study well for those standardized tests, because, assuming you're American, they're going to be damn important. Join a club; oftentimes, it's the only way to find others with similar interests. The fact that you've already got friends to talk to means you're off to a good start.

Don't feel bad if you go through high school without feeling like it's the time of your life. If it is, great! However, for many, it isn't. For some, if anything, it's the absolute low point in their lives. With all this talk of bullying and depression in high schools, it seems like this is still the case.

I know people and the media play up expectations of high school a lot, so don't feel disappointed if high school isn't all peaches and cream, or feel like you're doing something wrong if you're unhappy, or even just lonely. Talk to your parents if you feel you need to; they're more responsive to this sort of stuff than you might think.

High school is a time where many kids begin to discover and experiment with their identity and sense of self. Don't panic if other kids you know start acting weird. Don't panic if you yourself start acting weird. It's normal, and you'll get out of it with a better sense of who you are as a person. They will, too, for better or for worse.

Guys I'm American. I'm also taking the best classes I can, which is PreAP Algebra II (diploma requirement), PreAP Biology, PreAP Chemistry, etc

All of my classes are PreAP
We don't have AP until like 10th grade I think
