post Flood update 2: electric boogaloo

I'm not one for making blogs a common thing, especially already having done one yesterday, but I felt since this has some big stuff, I'd like to just write it out here.

Today, I got my car back! "Again?" You say? Well, it had initially been fixed a week and a half ago, and given back to me after insurance paid for it to be repaired. But there were still issues with it, and it broke down right off the lot. Today though, it's been fully repaired and runs just as it used to! Woohoo! They even fixed the USB ports in the cup holder part! The water was up past the ignition, and I'm stunned that the mechanics were able to fix it. Good on them!

Pretty pretty car!

And, not only that, but the pipes in my new house were finally fixed! It's live in ready, and all I need to do is set up the water utilities and get some internet again! Heck yeah! I'll have to take pictures once I've got some furniture and it's all decked out :D

I'm super psyched to get back into posting news and reviews and everything, really! Crazy stuff keeps happening through all this, but it's hard not to be happy, lately! Things are definitely looking up more and more with each passing day!

Thanks for reading, and thanks everyone, again, for your kindness and generosity!

I'm going to make it a thing where anyone who mentions "Electric Boogaloo," I'll share this picture.

At least watch that over the inspiration of that meme (some stupid 80s break dance movie), they do go into detail about it and the original. Among other films from this amazing production company...

Nice car you have here !

And that's cool that you can finally go back to normal (idk if that's the good moment to say that but at least trying to)

Those saying nice car I do have to point out that is a right hand drive one with what looks like UK plates, the Mercedes in the back certainly does and that price sign (itself a rare thing in the US in my experience) has a £ symbol in it in the back. To that end this was probably more of a "this is an example of what I have" more than a straight picture of it.

Fiestas are solid little cars though, that said water up to the ignition is something I might have thought would kill a modern one. I certainly would not get one I know to have had to be pulled back from such a state.

yeah, @FAST6191 is right. GBAtemp had a photo limitation from my camera so I grabbed a pic of one from a retailer. They're identical in looks, besides the UK-y stuff.

I'm shocked it runs at all, but they did have to replace the computer/transmission/gas tank/AC filters. It was an estimated $6k worth of repairs, for a car that was purchased for 13k.

Yeah default size for a lot of things these days is above 2 megs, several times I have taken a quick shot for something and ended up having to crop and resize.

Curious that they adopted the EU shapes if so. Several times when stateside I would see cars with the rear end the same as Europe and the front either US original or some other car like they were a cut and shut (two halves of a car welded together, usually by a cowboy mechanic from two collision damaged vehicles). Makes being half asleep from time zones and general exhaustion (never got doing nothing as a good plan for a holiday)

"[replace] computer/transmission/gas tank/AC filters."
If they did that much then fair enough. It is when they use a few cans of spray and "get it running" from such a state on a modern car that I have pause. Anything beyond that tends to mean it gets written off.

@FAST6191 - yeah I also noticed it, and was confused but didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to take away from:
congratulations that your car is working! :)

Cowboy? More like redneck/hillbilly lol
This would be one of those UK slang vs American slang occasions I guess (see also fanny pack, or indeed fanny in general).

I imagine it is probably a vestige of a time when the US was less well regarded but if you call a tradesman in the UK a cowboy you are saying they are not good at what they do. Most commonly you will see the phrase cowboy builders (there is a long running TV called that and actually Citizen's advice is a sort of UK gov related organisation/charity and https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/c...ms/top-tips-on-how-to-spot-a-cowboy-builder1/ , though equally a search for "cowboy builders site:gov.uk" will bring back no end of results), however it does branch out into other things from IT, management to all the other manual trades.
You really do not want to be called this as a tradesman and should you throw such phrases around falsely in a pub you are likely to find out if the arm what swings a hammer to make a living is also good at swinging an elbow at your teeth.
