Captain Bortz's Piracy Cove

Has anyone here heard of "piracy syndrome"?
I think its where you download too much and dont know what to play. You end up just going back and playing your favorites or just endlessly browsing the temp and facebook for videogame shiz and dreaming about playing them, but when it comes to the time to play them, you just cant decided cause you have too much to play.

Well i think my "piracy syndrome" is now in stage 2. Im starting to feel like a pirate who has already pillaged the high seas and has a huge horde of treasure. Im looking for a place to stash it all.

I dont really play games much anymore, even though im trying to force myself to do so, cause i have SO much i wanna play.
Fast made a thread of the "legendary games you HAVENT played" and made a list. I have a few series i want to play though, unfortuanly they are mostly RPGs and long ass balls.
1. The Dragon Quest Series. Staring at 1&2 and playing all the way to 9.
Dragon Quest
Dragon Quest 2 (started)
Dragon Quest 3
Dragon Quest 4
Dragon Quest 5

Dragon Quest 6 (started)
Dragon Quest 7 (started)
Dragon Quest 8 Play this one with the orchestrated sound track!
Dragon Quest 9 (started)
Dragon Quest X (online only)
Dragon Quest 11
2. The Final Fantasy Series. Starting at 1 on the NES and playing all the way to 9. I have already played 7 and 9, as well as all of the Tactics spinoffs. If i want to play more, I own 12 and have a 360 if i want to ever get 13 and 13-2.
Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III (DS)
Final Fantasy IV (started)
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII (probably gonna watch this one on YouTube...)
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X / X2
Final Fantasy XI (online)
Final Fantasy XII (playing right now)
Final Fantasy XIII / XIII - 2 / XIII - 3
Final Fantasy XiV (online)
Final Fantasy XV (probably gonna pass on this one

Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (playing on my phone)
3. Legend of Zelda series. This one, im already pretty far along with. Ive played Links Awakening, Link to the Past, Twilight Princess, Minish Cap, and i started OoT on my 3DS. Ill start at the NES Zelda game and play 2, Ages, Seasons, Wind Waker, MM, Skyward Sword, and the DS ones.
Original
Adventures of Link (2)
Link's Awakening
Link to the Past

Oracle of Ages / Oracles of Seasons
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Wind Waker
Minish Cap
Phantom Hourglass
Spirit Tracks
Twilight Princess
Skyward Sword
Link Between Worlds
Breath of the Wild
4. Not nearly as time consuming, but i want to play thought Golden Sun again. The first time i got thought the whole game, after beating Karst and whoever that dude was, my game glitched and i never got the Mars star into my inventory again... Id like to emulate them, but NOTHING emulates The lost age well. At all.

So i can emulate most of those. So that means that i start downloading them. All. Right now, i have most of my DSTwo's memory clogged with DQ4,5,6, 9 and tons of other games that I skipped over during the DS's life.

I recently bought a 3DS too. So what does that mean? Now im starting to purchase games for my 3DS and again, just stockpile them. I already own Zelda OoT, SMT: Devil Survivor, MK7. Super Mario Land, Kid Icarus uprising... And i want more. But i dont have the time to play all of this. But i cant sell or delete the files... I want to keep them. I filled the rest of my DS's memory with all the NES games i could find, as well as some GBA classics.

I have so many systems and so many games. I havent even touched on the HDD full of wii games i want to beat too...

Thoughtss...?

The best part about necro bumps, is the idiot who does it never actually says anything even remotely relevant or interesting

Im at stage 3. I barely even play the consoles that have the pirated games (Ever Oasis slightly put me back at stage 2 though)

Five years...I hope it didn't progress to stage four. Stage five is: You finally play the games you have, after many sacrifices, but you only get twenty minutes in and become extremely bored/aggravated. You'll decide to play something that mildly interested you, but you have no idea what you were doing or where you should be. You become even more aggravated that you have to build your skills back up or start over from the beginning--which will most likely put you right back into stage three.

I'd say play stuff you normally wouldn't, then never worry about it again. My backlog is spanning two years and I've just decided to put my time into grinding and strategizing .

@Dionicio3 i just read something and replied, i didnt want to necrobump it, just answering something

Piracy syndrome has always hit me in waves. On one hand piracy actually introduced me to some of my favorite games/series. If I didn't pirate the Ace Attorney games, I would have never played them and thus missed out on an amazing series. I've since bought most of the games for that series and I've played them all. The same could be said for series like the SMT series or really games by Atlus as a whole. I pirated Devil Survivor and I feel in love with that game and played it for hours. Since then when I see Atlus, I often assume that it's a quality game and buy it (I am rarely disappointed as well.)
On the other hand, I've also found games that I've simply never touched because I have so many of them at this point. This isn't even just piracy related, I have entire bookshelves full of games and backed most of them up. Now they just kind of sit there until I get some interest in playing them. To which I often just end up replaying a game I know I will enjoy. So the same spark that made enjoy that game, also got me hooked to it like a drug.
Now I am left somewhere in the middle where my piracy created this mindset where I love to try new things, but then I get hooked and neglect everything else.

I copied everything years ago and wished I collected the originals instead at the time, because now some of them are doubled/trippled in price because of retro being popular again. However, you are not to know these things at the time.

I tend to still exploit and mod consoles for the fun of it but not actually play the games. I must be sitting on 1000s of games but play like 10 or so that were favourites when I was younger.

When NTRboothax got released last week, I bought a N2DS just to try it. It's now back in it's box on a shelf:)

You want piracy syndrome? Add to whatever you have now, the entire MAME collection. Including the 1.8+TB of softwarelist CHD images...

Zelda: Windwaker is the only one I haven't done now. Got the GC version when the Wii came out, but never played. Got the HD port for WiiU and played maybe 40 minutes or so.

Golden Sun... Forgot the name of the flash cart emulator, but for some reason GS games have no issues on the DSTWO+ where all other cards freeze and/or crash. Even using the same emulator. Something to do with the SoC+Firmware, I guess.

Yep, its killing me and I can stop, Ive got about 17,000 games on my pc

Hacked PSP +64gb microsd , PSPGO + 16gb M2 ,PSPVita + 128gb microsd card ,PSTV + 500gb HD ,PS2 + 500GB HD
SNES + SD2SNES
BACKLIT GAMEBOY + EVERDRIVE
3DS + NEW3DS Both hacked
DSI XL + R4
G.B.A MICRO + EZ FLASH IV

I still go back to the same games I used to play when I was 8-18 years old,
Ranging from Speccy to N64.

Its like PokurMum, Gotta catch em all

HA! Since then I have beaten Dragon quest 1, 4, 5, and 8. Not as much progress as I would have liked but still more than nothing. I am working on getting 7 working on my 3DS with EXP cheats.

I have only beat a Link Between Worlds and Ocarina from the Zelda series. Next up would probably be Majora's. I even bought a physical copy of that game for some reason.

Lets see, I beat Final Fantasy 3 somewhere in there, and played a bit of 4 but lost a save or two and got frustrated. I have already had 7 and 9 beaten from college so those are done (even though it looks like I am going to play FF7 again on PS4...). I am playing FF12 right now. I beat FF12 Revenant Wings for DS recently. I beat FFT (PS1) in college and thuroughly beat FFTA into the ground and hey, I will probably go back and play that one again anyways. I have had trouble getting very far in FFTA2 though. I have restarted that game more times than I can count now... Bu that's it for Final Fantasy.

If you ever go for a FF8 run, I suggest a "Draw multiplier" cheat. And avoid EXP multipliers!
You draw magic from enemies or some "fountains" that sometimes get restocked after certain events. Max is 100 for each magic, but you only draw a few each time.
You assign magic to stats (junction) and have to use some strategy there, because you can only use a certain magic for one stat at a time, but basically:
assigning 100 Fire to elemental magic resistance = 50% resistance to fire.
assigning 100 Fira to elemental magic resistance = 100% resistance to fire.
assigning 100 Firaga to elemental magic resistance = some percent absorption (get health!).

You also assign magic to your health to boost it, and strength and all that jazz. So boosting your "leveling up" is to basically draw more magic. And to not having to bother drawing so much, multiplier! :D

I've had pirates syndrome for quite a few years, but it's more that I rarely feel like playing games, and when I do it's usually from a familiar series that I love, or going back to replay a game I've already beaten. My Steam is such a mess though, so many games that I'm probably never going to play and I have no idea what to play on it (and that has nothing to do with Pirate's Syndrome)
Though it might just be that I'm growing older and are no longer as interested in games as I used to be. I hope that's not the case, because I do love games and want to play them more, I'm just rarely in the mood for it.

Yes, this has happened to me before, however it fixes itself when I buy the game.
Pirated The walking dead season 1, played only the first chapter, months later I buy the game on steam and complete it within a week. Same thing goes for Far Cry 3, Oblivion, Fez, Torchlight and Fallout 3...
