My little 11 month kitten died yesterday.
I rescued him last year around May from being squashed by a crane in a construction site, took him home and took care of him until now.
I took him to the vet yesterday to check up on his health, especially cuz he was getting really really fat which was abnormal, after the vets checked up on him they noticed his heart wasn't working properly and that the reason he's swollen, not fat its because the heart isn't pumping right (so basically a yellow liquid was what it was making him fat, even his left paw was swollen).
They prescribed me medicine for it and me, worried for his health, I asked for the top expensive one, anything to make my little Nano healthy again (he already had his shots and chip before).
They gave me this medicine which I think is Lasix 40mg for his heart condition.
We also gave him a pill to kill all of his fleas, it was administrated by the vet.
After we got home, and spending a lot on the vet, we proceed to give him wet food and the medicine at the exact dose the vet told me to.
After 15 minutes he was walking wobbly and I figured that's normal because side effects, after an hour however... he came into shock.
I didn't noticed, my friend did. He was having troubles breathing and his heart was beating really really fast, my guess is that he was having a heart attack.
My other older cat (they grew up together like brothers) kept leaning in to my sick kitten like he understood what was going on, even after pushing him back 4 times to try and give CPR to my kitten, he would not back off.
I started entering into a panic, my cat was having a heart attack, all of his fleas were jumping out of his body, naturally because of the pill the vet gave him.
I told my friend to put him back into the transporter and dash as fast as he could to the vet because his heart stopped altogether and so did his breathing.
My panic got way way worse and I couldn't control myself (my boyfriend broke with me on that day and I was pulling an all nighter, combine that with the stress from work and pressure from my bills all on the same day and you can say that I snapped mentally)
He took him back to the vet and they tried to reanimate him, they succeeded however there was nothing else they could do, his heart died after and even with a transplant, his brain was already dead due to lack of oxygen.
Sad sad day yesterday, I'm feeling a bit better now but that's because I'm feeling emotionless ATM.
