My opinions/feelings about the Sun/Moon leak and admitting my deeds.

Before we discuss this topic, I'd like to tell you that I'm not a native English speaker. So please bear with me with this blog.

First off, I want to admit that I played the leaked version of Pokemon Moon. I feel guitly for it.
But why?
I was too curious about the game and I wanted to know if Nintendo would do something against this.
The second reason was really stupid, because I did some Wonder Trades and got banned. I'm not here to whine about it. I accept my punishment, and I understand the risks of playing a leaked version of a game online way better now.
Besides, the eShop isn't really my thing, because I love to have physical copies of my games at any time. I'll get a legal copy of Pokemon Sun around my birthday or in January. (Before my little brother buys it, because he wants it so bad.)

When I watched some videos on Youtube describing hackers playing the leaked version, I felt pretty meh about it. I did something stupid and thousands of other people did it too.
The comment sections however are way worse, It basicly comes down to 'F*ck hackers who play this game early and go online with it and spoil the story and other elements for us!' I still have mixed feelings about these comments. I have real life friends who are genuinely excited for the game, so I didn't spoil anything for them. It would make me feel worse than before.

Last but not least, I am always against piracy. I have a old 3DS with A9LoaderHax installed, and I mostly enjoy my games as a physical version. I bought some other games and DLC for Smash, but I still have a strong feeling about what's good and bad. Piracy is a controversial topic, which I'm aware of, but I don't support pirating games in any way or any reason. Go buy the games, support the devs and their life, and enjoy them for as long as you want.

I had to let this out. It kinda feels as a relief. Leave your thoughts down below.
I would love to discuss and share opinions with you guys and girls. I appriciate constructive criticism too.

Comments

Well if anyone know about the village idiot, the metaphor is the ones who do the obviously dumb things. Of course i'm not directing this at you cause you are responsible enough to admit to a mistake and explain. But i mean as little as i cared about pokemon games, (besides watching tv show) It obviously seem more like a topic of interest, while the game recent discussion of bans are more prominent in discussion instead of the game itself, i do here some dissatisfaction with the game, but what do i know, i have yet to seen or play it.

I don't really care for spoilers, i look up wikipedia articales of stuff before i play it simply cause is one of my favorite passtimes :P

But is better to know enough than not konw anything. Spoiler is a opinion based situation, some people don't like it and some people do. But telling or sharing something with someone is always considered spoiler, they can still be just as surprised when they are experiencing it. I just suddenly felt a little interest for investigating simply cause of the public outcry, pokemon is known to be a top 5 best seller game series from nintendo and now is seem to be changing (not just cause of the bans and leaks) so after a decade i want to understand why. But i'm too busy with more positive things or problems of my own than to focus on this negative impact.

Says to forgive his english. has better grammer then most native English speakers here.

No reason to feel insecure if you do your best. :P

Of course i mean is all up to you people may not take it the same way so i mean well... Is better than nothing. Just keep being motivated to do better i guess. :)

I will. Writing this blog was kinda fun to do. I never wrote a blog before, but it feels so good for me to do.
Maybe I'll do another one, but with a different topic.

I have some spelling tips for you.
1: You wrote "I have a old 3DS...".
When the next word starts with a vowel sound*, you should write "an" instead of "a".
NOTE:
*The U in University isn't pronounced as a vowel, but as "Juniversity" or "Youniversity", so therefore it's not "an".
*The H in Honor is silent, so it is pronounced as "on-or". That makes it "It's an honor to meet you".

2: Do you have a spellchecker in your browser? I noticed you probably accidentally wrote "guitly" instead of "guilty", which I assume was a typo. I use Chrome and use its built in spellchecker, which works fairly well.

The first tip is really easy to remember. "Sounds like a vowel: an".

Now, about the topic: When it comes to games like these, I would never play an early leak just to be on the safe side. I understand that some people just can't wait, but for me there are already so many games to enjoy while waiting for the real release. I'm not against piracy, but I don't think it's right. I do pirate stuff though, for some reason or another.
Let's just say I pirate stuff, but I'm not thinking "legalize pirating! Software wants to be free".

@Issac Thanks for the tips. I'll try to improve with those. I always have some trouble with 'a' and 'an'.
I have a spellchecker on Chrome, but it's set to my native language. Sometimes it works in English and sometimes not.

Alright! Once you start remembering the "vowel" rule, it becomes super easy :) Saying words out loud is the best way to make sure too. Like "RPG", it's "an RPG" because the R is pronounced ARR, which begins with a vowel sound :P

My chrome spellchecker is bilingual. When I right click on text I've written, there's an option for "spellchecker", and there all my languages are listed as well as "all my languages".
What's your native language?

My native language is Dutch. Sometimes I wish that it was English, because English is very interesting and fun.

Ah, I've noticed the Dutch people are really good at languages in general. And you know what? I think it's better to not have English as a native language. Almost everyone knows English well enough (as a second language), but very few knows Dutch (as a second language).

I don't mind pirating digital, especially if I have physical. International copyright laws, for the most part basically boil down to the idea that you own physical, you don't own digital (far fewer rights with digital goods). I had bought pokemon physically, so I didn't mind playing it a few days early digitally.

I wouldn't feel too bad. Time is an illusion anyway. ;) While permabanning is pretty intense, I can understand it. It sucks that it happened to you. I wouldn't say you were wrong, just that they weren't wrong either.

I'm pro-piracy, I waited patiently to the game relase and played with no issues.
You're a strong anti-piracy, you STILL played a leaked version and got banned... Life is strange isn't it?

Well, the keyword here is respect, I'm a 26 years old person and games are present in my life since I was very young (that Prince of Persian for MS-DOS) and I've been an owner of every Nintendo handheld and almost every Nintendo home console and I've learned a lot of all those years of games is that this is an industry, they don't really care about you and me playing or enjoying, they care about profit, money and sells, every developer sees you as a consumer and they're very skilled to exploit our need to consume. Thats why I decided I would be a skilled consumer too and I only buy games that really feel like an effor is put on, I always religiously buy Monster Hunter games and what they did now? They said Generations (X) would not have a Ultimate (G) version and they will focusing on Monster Hunter 5... They lied, now they want to treat western consumers with the same bullshit they treat Japan (Relase a Monster Hunter, then relase it's G version and you end paying for 2 whole games and not an "expansion") so I decided to NOT buy Generations "Ultimate" (XX). Piracy is a tool that is useful to make enterprices and developers to feel unsecure, they will always play the "piracy hurts game developing" card when in the reality piracy hurt their PROFIT plans. See where the game industry is now? Season Pass, Mandatory DLC, Pre-loaded content in disks later charged as DLC, Freemium Games, Pay-to-win Games, Fragmented Gamnes... A full charge of profit strategy with the objetive to drain money from blind consumers. Is there when I decide I will react to brands, enterprises and developers based on what they give to me. And when in mind what I just said, you still need to be respectful the work others do, if a game is relased and you do something that stupid to play a leaked version it's ok, is up to you, but people went beyond stupidness and played the online mode of an UNRELASED game, really? And that's not piracy scene's fault, it's the individual fault of all those retarded fucks that used the tools piracy offers to do stupid things. As in every thing in the world PIRACY IS NOT THE PROBLEM, STUPID PEOPLE HAVING ACCESS TO PIRACY TOOLS IS...

@JCCG1989 You have some strong points.
I completely forgot that game creators work for companies which demands profits.
Kind of cruel when you think about it.
When I buy a game, I avoid to buy stuff like DLC and Season Passes and all that other shit because I only want to go the extra mile for games which I really love like Smash 4.
I always thought that people create games because they love to make them, and while it's true to a extent, it's still shocking to know that it became another industry.
