Not all discrimination is equal

It's been a while since I thought about writing this, and since things keep happening that remind me about it, I'm going ahead.
So, it might be obvious to some, but not all forms of discrimination are equally accepted in society. Discrimination about physical features (wearing glasses, being short/tall etc.) or illnesses is generally despised by most people.
Discrimination about groups of people is where it gets tricky. Racist remarks (especially if heavily so) are also generally frowned upon. Homophobic ones are quite more accepted, but are quickly becoming less so as the LGB rights situation improves, while transphobic and sexist ones (rape jokes and such) are the most accepted. Usually, a trans person can't even point out that a statement is insulting, that it gets labeled as a joke, or that the trans person is seen as "exaggerating", or "being incapable to take jokes".
This also reflects in online communities/chatrooms, since I saw cases where a racist insult results in measures from the staff, while homophobic and transphobic ones barely result in any.

I'd rather prefer all organized religion not to exist myself, but saying "true" muslims are terrorists is not quite true. The same amount of violence in the Qur'an is also found in the Bible (the hebrew/christian god himself killed some millions of people lol). And don't think christianity stopped making victims just because there are fewer christians that blow themselves up, it's safe to assume a lot of the LGBT suicides (as an example) were caused or aided by a christian religion in some way.

If you wanted to remember Christian good deeds of the old times, just go for the Crusades, or the preparation of grilled "witches" for public display.

The thing that people are forgetting here, is the fact is no one has studied the scriptures and seem to have completely ignored the context of any verse that include "violence". Judging a faith by it is adherents is understandable though not rational, it is similar to some thinking people in isis represent Muslims as a whole or the KKK represent Christians collectively. As a Muslim myself I personally loathe painting any group of people as X with no logical, or rational and most importantly factual basis.

OT: I do relate to what you stated, it is so disgusting and appalling how people like to throw idiotic remarks and when faced with the same thing feel really offended and call you names to shut you up.

Agreed on organised religion being abolished, but im having a hard time making my point because I'm argueing semantics. I think we can all agree islam stands apart from other religions, today, in terms of violence and extremism, yes?

There are cool muslims, I agree, but not many compared to the several middle eastern countries, under sharia law, currently armed and ready to continuing killing everyone. Im sure there were cool nazis too, but the principals on which they stood were evil, right?

My point, finally. Is. If we continue to be all, "well that's offensive to some non-violent muslims" every time the topic comes up, we are making are selves weaker to the 20 for every one of them that want, and try, kill you and me.

@A7MAD logical or rational reason? We are on the verge of a third world war with islam as its center focus. sorry if your offended, but too many people are currently following the literal interpretations of the quran in regards to violence against nonbelievers for islam to be seen as just another religion of diverse individuals.

I think the only world war coming might be because and between USA and Russia that have very different ideas on how to attack Syria and what puppet to put at the head of its government afterwards.

PS: No shit, Sherlock.
Also I remember there are some strategic points in there where it is possible to build gas/oil ducts and provide Europe and that may be useful for business of either allies of USA (I think Saudi Arabia) or even to Iran (not planned), but and here comes the problem they would be in direct competition with the almost monopoly of oil and gas supply Russia has over Europe. (of course my Geography is subpar and probably the correct place is somewhat to the east or west or north of Syria, but I kind of think it is exactly there).

@WeedZ Non taken, so a literal understanding is the fault of Islam, not the one doing the interpretation? Well, it is obviously not to blame. People through history have used religion to justify every vile act possible, so it is not shocking what is happening in our time.

The most important point I want to make, is the amount of misinformation about Islam, the Qur'an and its legal system is staggering. I would suggest, it is Muslims, extremists to be exact and those who find it easy to exploit the people that are in constant unstable state who are to blame.

Who cares, if you are offended turn off your computer/phone and buy ear plugs. Saying something mean isn't discrimination. Discrimination means you can't get a job or are paid less for same job or worse.

Goddamn it aurora, I keep trying to leave this thing. Of course its an exaggeration but you cant seriously be telling me, that in the US alone, we have been pumping over 50% of our tax dollars every year into our military, a military that has been at war for 15 years along side the other countries also fightin in the middle east, and that its only a minority that they are fighting against.

This long battle is like always against Russia for influence, resources and business opportunities.
It is just another old Vietnam/Korea/Afghanistan.
If you wanted to beat the terrorists you could do it in one day. But they are the excuse.

What about the other countries that have a military and suffered casualties? France, germany (those dudes almost took over europe), china (military bigger then ours). Don't think because they're labeled terrorists that don't have armies, that there isn't a front line. Soldiers come back fucked up all the time. Not from being shot by russians.

Or you could put all of that as excuses and extend the battle producing more innocent victims and pissing off more foreigners, like the Russians, while you try to establish yourself and your selected puppet to make the most of the business opportunity for you and your allies.
Wow, save for the language Russia and the USA are not so different.

Like in Korea or in Vietnam.
They were not shot by Russians, but they were shot with Russians weapons.
America does the same here with the rebels on Syria, they shot Russians with American weapons.
