I'm currently using Fitday and lost around 5 pounds in two weeks. The first week is very hard but it will get easier.

My absolute number one piece of advice is proper breathing. If you can't breathe through your nose due to a blockage, it will make losing weight MUCH MUCH more difficult. After I got surgery to fix a nasal blockage, I lost 90 lbs in one year. Getting my nose fixed is the biggest catalyst I've ever experienced in my life.

I'm not entirely familiar with the Weight Watchers plan, I think their system is based on food portions are assigned numbers, and you eat a certain value. Personally I lost my weight counting calories (and exercise of course). Little by little, I continually targeted and dropped foods that could potentially sabotage my efforts. UNFORTUNATELY, tv dinners are not your friend (including the Weight Watchers ones.) They are god damn liars about calorie counts. Don't trust tv dinners, don't trust resturants.

It's extremely difficult dumping the junk food. But you need to understand. That shit is not designed to satisfy you, it's designed to get you hooked. Some say everything in moderation, but that is a load of bullshit. SOME people can eat "everything in moderation." Just like SOME people can drink alcohol without being an alcoholic. But due to heredity and/or other circumstances, some can be far more prone to alcoholism than others. Why wouldn't it be the same with food ? BATTLE those urges to eat that sweet shit. SLICE that shit out of your life, and look at it for what it is. A god damn addiction. Good luck.

edit- Another thing I would consider important: If you are serious about losing weight, and you are eating right, exercising, etc. Don't feel discouraged if you actually gain weight before losing it; it's your metabolism reacting to dietary changes.

My absolute number one advice is this:
Don't waste your money on Weight Watchers. I don't care how many people told you it was great, I don't care how many people recommend it, there are so many ways to lose weight that's A) Quicker than WW
B) Cheaper than WW
and C) Easier than WW
You know what that is? Eat serving sizes instead of piling shit on your plate, exercise, and don't pile shit on your plate. There's a reason there are serving sizes.

Start out small when you exercise. Get a treadmill and 2 5lb weights and lift while you walk a mile. Go get a membership at a gym, work out there. Oh and don't pile shit on your plate (that's important).

The main reason people get fat is because they don't exercise enough and because they eat shit tons more than the serving sizes on the labels.

Weight Watchers works really well. I haven't used it since I'm the pinnacle of physical perfection but my mom lost a lot of weight on it, as has my aunt. The before and after pictures are startling.

No offense but saying "don't waste money on Weight Watchers" then suggesting him equally pricey alternatives is rather contradictory. I mean when my mom was losing weight she initially just dieted but she's started doing yoga and taking walks as well. She never went to a gym or anything and working out will do jack squat if you don't do a proper diet with it.

WW as with any other diet will only work and provide lasting effects if it is used as a spring board to change ones entire eating habits. If you go on it, half hearted and eventually come off of it, you will put the weight right back on. Not trying to depress you, just remind you that a permanent change in habits is needed to keep the weight off. FACT: More people die from anesthesia in an operating room yearly due to being overweight than any other single reason. The more you weigh, the more thats needed to 'put you out'. I'm no expert but I worked for a nutritionist (+ 5 doctors) for 8 years in a clinical setting we saw thousands of people for weight control, biggest problem was most didn't realize how many other health problems are complicated by being more than 15 lbs overweight. I'm not talking casual inconvienience, I'm talking dealth or amputation from poor circulation, no exercise. We presented seminars for major corporations to reduce health care costs to companies due to oerweight employees. Take it seriously, you will feel better (and about yourself in so many ways) and add years to your life. Best of Success, we make our own luck. As my mother once said R.I.P.... "Good, Better, Best, never let it rest, until your 'Good' gets 'Better' and your 'Better' gets 'BEST'."
