And here I thought I wasn't miserable enough for serious art production.

I used to be a writer. Stories, poetry, random articles for a few now-forgotten internet magazines.

Been a music critic, and an aspiring artist. Every bit of it came out of a combination of a miserable marriage and the hatred of the area I lived in.

And it changed. Suddenly, I didn't write anymore. Didn't make music anymore.

Until relatively recently, that is.

Got myself a Bandcamp page and tossed a 5 track EP on it for free download. Found that I have an artist profile on Last,fm, and tossed 4 more tracks of early stuff that didn't make me want to stab my eardrums out.

I'm not miserable, I don't hate where I live and I ditched the wife and traded up to a girlfriend who I not only love, but like. (There is a difference).

So where the hell is this creativity coming from?

The only reply I cam even make is to quote an old 4chan meme.

THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST

Some great artists have had their best pieces come from the hardest times in their lives. Though I don't think not liking your wife and place of living would be the hardest time in your life. (Maybe hardest so far.)

However, that doesn't mean artistic gifts come from misery. Keep doing what you're doing and always keep your eyes and ears open for inspiration. It can sometimes come from the strangest places.
