@Flofflewoffle:do you like every game to be as high resolution as possible? How low res/pixilated do you think looks most pleasant?
I prefer it, but I don't mind low res games a ton, as when I was little I mainly played games on handhelds and 1080p was fucking mind-blowing to me the first time I experienced it, the most low res is around the ds resolution I can go, beyond that is where I draw the line(one of the main reasons I use emulators, game boy games without squinting)
Also, what do you think about the legend of zelda: wind waker DS?
Going back to the Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks topic, these two were screwed over by the insane decision to focus almost exclusively on stylus control, when the DS has plenty of perfectly-usable buttons. Another series of DS games that had a heavy focus on stylus control, Pokemon Ranger, still kept d-pad movement and buttons for menus and stuff, so it wasn't as egregious.
If PH/ST could be altered to utilise buttons, then I'd imagine they would be far better games - I'd still prefer Link's Awakening and A Link Between Worlds, but they would still be much better than bloody BotW or SS, that's for damn sure.
@Flofflewoffle:What do you think about Xevious?
Decent game, played it a few times
@0xFFFFFFFF:What are your thoughts on the great and holy Tempest 2000, and its followup TxK: The New Tempest-aments
Never read em, tbh
@BigOnYa:Would you rather have a hot Amogus fanboy, or a ugly werewolf?
First one
What's your favourite flavour of cola? Normal Coke, Coke Zero, Vanilla Coke, Cherry Coke, Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Dr Pepper, etc.?
Mine would have to be Vanilla Coke, but they're all good to me, really.
@RichardTheKing literally everyone talks smack about the touch screen controls and I don't know why
I will say no one I've ever encountered who thought they were bad beat the game - so I think they got frustrated early for the most part and never experienced all the game had to offer
@x65943 Dude, with all due respect, I suffered through the dysfunctional and sickening disaster known as Skyward Sword multiple times in my life - though not within the last couple of years. The broken motion controls ALWAYS got in the way; the extremely-limited Pouch never ceased to be an unnecessary nuisance; the story is mediocre and pointlessly repetitive; Impa is one of the worst characters in the game; flying is slow as balls, and the sky empty as space. Never did manage to get all the Goddess Chests, or beat that cannon minigame - and why include Minesweeper?
The Imprisoned and the various Silent Realm trials always made me rage due to how they just DON'T WORK alongside the idiocy known as the stamina gauge.
I beat Skyward FUCKING Sword multiple times since I bought it all those years ago; I deserve to rant about it.
As for Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, first impressions matter most, and the almost-complete abandonment of buttons ruined theirs - and unlike Twilight Princess Wii (where I didn't get Wiimote fishing at first, which is required to progress within Ordon Village), it's not a temporary issue that most of the game afterwards doesn't use. No, stylus control is mandatory for the entire duo, with Spirit Tracks even adding in microphone usage to play music (such a stellar addition there; the DS microphone is renowned for being reliable, and blowing into the small-ass slot for long songs isn't a complete pain, no sirree).
1. if you think the controls in SS are that bad you probably had a bad wiimotion plus
2. I really really disagree, the stylus controls actually add to the games a lot
@x65943 I tried multiple Wiimotes (with WM+ built-in), and never once worked. No matter how I recalibrated the Wiimotes, or the distance between me and the damn sensor bar, or the location of the sensor bar.
The Wii as a console is inherently heavily flawed. Wii == Virtual Boy.
SS does not use the sensor bar, it uses the built in accelerometer.
The sensor bar is actually just two IR lights that the camera at the end of the wiimote captures to position itself. This is used for pointing in other wii games - BUT NOT in SS and never has anything to do with motion controls.
If you want to test this, after you get past the first menu is SS cover the sensor bar with cloth or simply unplug it and note it will have no difference on gameplay.
Now back to the wiimotion+, it does have a bit of a learning curve, but the key is not to do any jerky motions, and try to be as fluid and natural as possible. Eliminating sudden jerks will cut down on any bad input you get almost 100%.
