This is something that has been on my mind for a very long time, but I haven't written anything about it until now. Remember my SONY Digital-Audio-Tape deck? The truth is, that I almost only use as an Optical-Digital to analog audio converter. It's even more true ever since the tape mechanism...

In April I published a short rant about the… let’s say sub-optimal situation regarding expiration of certain certificates. Nobody could have expected that this would happen some day. When Microsoft created certificates with 15 year validity in 2011 there was no need to think of expiration...
Some random thoughts here... Steam controller: From the new upcoming hardware line-up, the controller was (and is) the one I'm most looking forward to. I'm curious on the machine and frame, but I've got me my open consoles. With my game preference, running celeste on a steam deck, an old HP...

It's June 2026. Despite my feed being filled with rumours about the steam frame and steam machine, neither have been given an actual release date nor definitive price. And it's driving people nuts. It's clear that hardware prices, especially RAM, are going up. Sony, nintendo and xbox have...

With the release of yet another – this time very easily exploitable – vulnerability in the TPM-only configuration of BitLocker it should be obvious to switch to a stronger setting. Despite the announcement that there might (for once) also be a loophole for TPM+PIN mode, I doubt an enhanced PIN...
I did this using a shitty soldering station (one of the knock-off 900M handles) and without a microscope. It looks badly soldered on, but it works, so I'm content with it.

Finally, a bit of a return to my older style of blog entries! Last year, at the flea market, I saw a Wii U Gamepad for sale next to other game controllers and games. Of course, it immediately caught my attention, a Wii U Gamepad by itself is not something I ever see in a place like this. I...

I actually kinda hate this painting tbh
"When a loved one dies, and you weep at their grave, remember that they are not where you lay. They do not reside beneath your feet covered in dirt and mud, they are above your own head. They have risen, not fallen. Look to the sky, not the ground with your face in your hands."

As you may all already know, NES/Famicom and SNES/Super Famicom had region locking. How was this attained? The cartridges simply didn't fit into other systems or there was a different TV standard (NTSC/PAL). The NES also has additional constraints. The Nintendo 64, in general, used the same...

I could run the main background music for the Project Witch. It was something very basic, but with this as the start, I can learn about more tools and get deeper into the files ("the files" in this game, come on). I extracted the whole directories with the UMDGen, verified the bgm.lba file, the...

So this is was needlessly confusing process and somehow I didn't find any concise explanation of how to do this online. If you're still running the factory 3.04 on an Intel 12th gen Framework 13 the instructions on Framework's website don't work because those instructions require a BIOS update...
