So my yellow lab just died. He died like 20 mins. He was out and about in our yard, and then when my dad came in, went back out, he died...
And while it may just be a dog,
I've had him since I was 7 years old. I actually did consider him my best friend because he was there for me and would sit and listen to me when things were wrong. Even though he shed like hell, I still carried him up stairs he couldn't climb, allowed him on my bed and everything. I've considered him my brother more than me and my older brother are.
This hit me hard because I've always stuck by him even when my family started paying more attention to our young dog. It's going to be weird not having to feed him, or throw rocks in his door to bring him out because he was deaf. He was actually a BIG part of my life. We never took him to the vet until this year because he had a problem with his back hair.. but still. He was the best dog ever. He would never leave the yard, never fought any dogs, never barked unless there was a stranger, never bit anybody or anything.
Me and him use to wrestle. He was teaching our young puppy extremely well on how to walk properly with us, on how to wait and everything. He always would sit when we fed him, gave him treats even when we didn't say to. He was the most amazing dog ever.
Still... he waited until after Christmas to pass away, which is AMAZING. And yes, as I'm writing this, I'm currently crying my eyes out.
R.I.P Grizzly, i love you buddy. Best damn dog ever.
