Right, a tear causing a short circuitThat is impossile, you can however have a micro tear in the cabling but not electrical like you described.

buy a new one and swap it out. just sayin..
but isn't the motherboard "married" to the rest just like on the PS3?This, just buy one software bricked and replace the motherboard.
Nope all parts are interchangeable just like the PSPbut isn't the motherboard "married" to the rest just like on the PS3?
Correct but you could just backup all your saves and extdata with JKSV and just setup another Emunand ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ok, then I got that wrong. but the emunand is married to the aes of a specific device and therefore not interchangeable, right?

That wont work you will need to reinstall everything you had hence your backing up your saves and extdata .and after that just copy and paste the installed games from "Nintendo 3DS" folder?
guess that won't work, right?

Now you starting to speak gibberish but if the needed aeskey is in the bootrom yes.so we would need to hack the aes engine to make that copy/paste method work?
nope iirc the movable.sed file is integral to the sd encryption, without having a dump of the movable.sed file then the 3ds cannot read it, and not only that but any installed games would also need to have the tickets installed again anyway, basically there will never be a total freedom for sd files as you always need a file thats locked away in the nand to decrypt themso with a hacked bootrom we could make the CFW that allows us to copy/paste the "Nintendo 3DS" folders and make them interchangeable between different NANDs/systems?
