Anyways, If you navigate the link I sent you can find Wii U repair price here: https://www.nintendo.at/Hilfe/Wii-U/Reparatur/Reparaturpreisliste/Reparaturpreisliste-860026.html
Interresting. I was under the impression Nintendo of Europe stopped Wii U support long ago but you're right. Here's btw a better list: https://cdn02.nintendo-europe.com/media/downloads/support_1/other_19/Support_NDACH_Repair_Costs.pdf

Now things are:
  • You need an adress in one of the countries supported, else they can't send you the repaired console back.
  • Most likely they'll tell you that this is an out of region console, so not their responsivenes (which was what I meaned with "they could... But they won't").
Maybe you're abe to cirumvert them so they make an exception for you but for that you would need to talk to them for yourself. Sadly I can't even find a telephone number on the website but an e-maily addy:

Nintendo of Europe GmbH
Goldsteinstraße 235

Myself I wasn't at unease ;-) and V10lator is often posting stuff that sounds like he's angry, I guess, so I don't think he always is :-P just his way I guess :-D

Okay, the phone thing is a valid point and the surprise thing too. Of course you could also contact them when you're here! But repairs take quite some time (while national shipping here doesn't!) so you'd need to be here some time.

But most importantly. They list 60-180$ for WiiU repairs, that can't really be worth it... As stated, used consoles without gamepads are about 50€ here, full sets go for about 120€. Second option would leave you with a gamepad you could sell ;-)
I am glad i didn’t offend you. I don’t want to offend anyone just want to help create a safe, welcoming, friendly community for all.

Yes I could contact them when I am there, but I don’t want to bring the system for no reason so I want to ask first.

Time is okay because my gf’s family can ship it back to me.

Yeah, I think repairing it is expensive but I would love to have an authentic Nintendo refurbished/fixed product. I want to keep my Wii U working for 100 years so I feel secure with Nintendo repair work.

You never know when buying used unfortunately.

Yes, I was confident that I was correct and that is the list I was referring to when I said “navigate the link”.

I mentioned my gf’s family lives in Austria so I have an address they can send to.

I will have to see if I can convince them to repair a U.S. console. I hope they will but you never know.

The phone number is on the website. So is a live chat, but the time difference is making it difficult for me to utilize the live chat. Regardless I think phone conversation will be better, but my German is not great. Maybe I can go in person and ask them kindly.

Thank you for your input.

The 100 years is a bit ambitious considering the life span of some fuses these days ;-) but yes, they might repair it best if course :-)

I've bought all my consoles used and never had any problems. Maybe I got lucky of course ;-)

Hey Everyone,

So I just bought a refurbished wii u off of ebay. It worked fine last month when I set it up for the first time. Put my Nintendo ID on it, connected to internet, etc.

I traveled to a new home and packed it up. When I unpacked it the gamepad was on (which was weird).

I tried playing it on a different TV, and it said the TV didn't support the resolution (used an HDMI cable). I clicked the option to downscale the resolution and it seemed to work.

Then I went to open system settings and the system just stopped trying to load it after about 20 seconds.

I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It boots up, but any time I try to open an application it will stop trying to load it and just freeze.

I don't know what happened. The seller said he didn't mod it (it was factory reset when I got it) and I actually wanted to see if I could but now I don’t know if it will even work…maybe it’s bricked…but how? It literally worked last month lol.

Can someone help me?

I:

1. Took out the SD card and tried - no fix
2. Unplugged and let it wait for a few mins - no fix
3. Left it plugged in overnight but off - no fix
3. Tried booting directly to the gamepad (no HDMI plugged in) - no fix.
4. Made sure it is in an open area with good ventilation - no fix.
5. Called Nintendo but they weren’t any help lol. I think they were reading off a script…

Anything else I can try? I really want to fix this bad boy.

Thank you so much!
This is the same issue as my old Wii u, but for my situation it happened randomly. I did not move houses or change the tv or bought it, it just happened randomly. How do I fix this?) I have looked up for this same issue, but I found nothing and I gave up, until I saw my Wii u on my storage room and I tried to look it up until I found this form.

Details of my Wii u:
1. I Bought it 5 years ago (2023).
2. Did not change houses or tv.
3. I have not connected the wifi since early 2021.
4. I have the "Super Mario Maker Console Deluxe Set"
(This happen in 2021)

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!

@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
