if you install a WAD of the Wii Netflix Channel, it should work as the channel does not check if it is a vWii or not. I personally would not do that as the picture quality of the Wii one sucks compared to it's Wii U channel.
other than that, as long as you can source a good WAD for it, it is perfectly safe to install it.

Not sure about this method, but perhaps if you had a copy of the Netflix for Wii disc that was sent out to people with Netflix accounts back when it was first made available for use on the Wii, you could install it to the vwii that way? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That disc does not work any more.

Source: I have the disc still and tested it myself

Just wanted to let everyone know. Wii Netflix on vWii DOES work. Obviously on vWii it will be in 480p upscaled to whatever native setting you have for your Wii U connection to your TV. I don't mind the SD as I could honest care less about HD as long as the SD footage is DVD quality. Personally, I am just glad to have profile support again. Wii U Netflix is just damned shameful :(

So far after using Netflix for like 8 months or so, the only show that has disappointed me when it comes to quality is Amazing Stories....

Some of the episodes are missing like frames or something, very odd look to it and not at all like they originally aired.

Also not every episode is dropping frames, (I tested both a real Wii and a Wii-U and PC and Android versions of Netflix and it's literally the recordings.) Some episodes look fine and some are only messed up for a few minutes and others are just a train wreck for the entire show.

Almost like the transcode to what ever format Netflix stores it's stuff came from old Divx files converted to Mpeg then Converted into something else (This is the only time I ran into video looking like that. When I "over converted" something.)

As a side note to this mini rant, Amazing Stories is an old TV show in same vein as Twilight Zone if anyone is interested. A very good show and should not be missed :) (Just know if your watching it on Netflix it could be better....)

IMO I'd rather deal with the little annoyances and be able to watch movies in 1080p

Has anyone tried using Wii Netflix on vWii? Right now, Netflix for Wii U really sucks without profile support.

What? The Wii version doesn't have profile support, does it? Didn't Netflix just add profiles recently, and I'm sure they never bothered to update the Wii channel. They haven't even updated my TV or Bluray with profile support.

So I can use the wad of the Netflix from my first generation Wii and install it without modification of the wad on my Wii U in vWii mode and it want brick? What is the name of the wad version that doesn't have select different profiles or users called? That's the wad I want to use.I haven't updated my Wii U to 5.0 yet, still on 4.1 via Mario kart 8 and I can't use Netflix app in Wii U unless I update to 5.0.I don't like the fact that they added the auto update feature.

It does have support for profiles, the 3DS still doesn't and hasn't had any updates. On the Wii side they updated quite a few times, the last few were memory managing/player updates but there weren't many noticeable changes.

Why do you think it could brick? It's a channel like any other, I don't think Nintendo put so much effort on blocking it and not having it on vWii Shop Channel is enough. Plus they block things by title ID and that can easily be changed.

It could be a bad/modified wad and make the vWii banner brick

I don't know much about all this hacking stuff and I've read on some other forums that some of the wads and forwarders will brick the Wii U.I'm talking about the ones from Wii that worked on it.So it's safe to use.

The Wii version of Netflix does indeed have profile support. I've had a Wii U for a month now and I have yet to see a Netflix update that includes profiles.

YES, you can install the WAD of Wii Netflix on vWii and it wont brick vWii.

Do you know which version of the wad was called before the Netflix version that let's you switch different profiles? That version was a lot better on the Wii.I had a version from 2010 according to the Wii eShop and the load times were really slow. That was the version where you can switch different profiles.

Had the same issues with "Amazing Stories" and I first noticed it during the episode that had the kid who escaped from the Alamo into modern times. It's frustrating because the series was pretty cool. Like you, I also experienced the varying quality on all of my systems, including Wii and Wii U versions of Netflix.

Also, wouldn't it be nice if Netflix put up the missing season of "The Twilight Zone"? Not sure why they haven't, but I'm wondering if the reason has something to do with that particular season being an hour long per episode instead of the standard half hour?

Not sure to be honest, I know most of the issues have to do with licensing but being an hour long maybe they think it would use more bandwidth?

Not sure if you have seen this yet or not but I check this web page every day to see what's been added.

Those are both probable reasons for not putting it up, I believe. Perhaps if it is a licensing issue, it will be resolved sometime in the future.

Hey, thanks for the link to that site. I was always curious to know what was coming out ahead of time, so that'll be useful.
